Guardian, Warrior, and Mesmer. The trinity.
Warrior: Insane damage, boosts group damage via Banner’s/Might/Fury/Vulnerability
Guardian: Does good damage while staying survivable with Altruistic Healing build. Can give party support boons as well as lots of Might via Staff
Mesmer: Good damage and with Timewarp increases the entire party’s damage by 50% for 10 seconds. Also helps stack group might via Shatters and using Signet of Inspiration

From comments, cause so true and so funny:
“Summary: GW2 has an overpowered class called “Bear” who tears it up in Tyria, and he can summon a faithful pet called “Ranger” to share in his adventures.
"
Most used: Guard/Mes/War/Nec/Ele.
Yes, i use 5 chars at time. Because REASONS.
Thanks for all the replies. I had a warrior and got him to lvl 57 before stopping. I will go back to warrior if they are still good otherwise the guardian sounds good. Is hunter w/ bear actually OP, cause I wouldn’t mind going ranged?
I’d say my guardian is pretty kitten op when it comes to survability.. honestly, i can solo pretty much any champs out there while still keeping neeT dps and taking any number of adds with ease
Well judging by how often Rangers/Engineers get nerfed, those 2 classes are seriously OP…
Guardian, Warrior, and Mesmer. The trinity.
yes i have rolled all classes and so far the most overpowerd and the most wanted class for dungions and such is these 3 classes.
@OP
Warriors.
they’re clunky in PvP; and ANet balances classes for PvP, not PvE.
@Mesmers
they’re far from best. They’re just decent supporters. A PvE group of Mesmers would be worse than one of rangers or engineers.
Thanks for all the replies. I guess I might look into guardians and rangers for now. Thanks again, much appreciated!

don t go ranger for pve…
Just don t.
they are possibly the most UP class around…
Guardian is a solid choice, warrior is too.
A PvE player is supposed to avoid a 1-2 second 1 shotting aoe.
A WWW player is considered uncapable of avoiding a 5,75 second aoe for half his health.
Small advice: wait a litle bit. today is an update with what arenanet calls: ‘We’re introducing our largest balance patch ever in this build, which includes significant updates to traits and skills to introduce more viable build diversity. Every single profession trait line is seeing changes and we’ve also made updates to some less popular skills to improve their effectiveness.’
More info here: https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/upcoming-skill-and-trait-changes/
So anything OP now might stop being OP in a few hours from now.
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
Necromancer, ranger or engineer.

Mesmer is no longer on this list. Holy nerfbat!

So happy with my guardian right now!

I’m coming back after a year hiatus and rolling a new character. Really enjoyed the mesmer playstyle in the BWE so I rolled one…..
Trying not to pay too much attention to all the crying as I visited most class forums and they all contain massive amounts of QQ but will it really be that bad levelling as a mesmer? I’ll be levelling almost exclusively with a friend who has rolled a warrior so not sure if this will make a difference?

I thought leveling my ele was orders of magnitudes worse than the other classes… until I started leveling a mesmer. Solo open world PvE exploration is very slow because your kill times are pretty high (just like an ele).
With a warrior, though, you should be fine. 1-15 will be a breeze, 15-40 is when your warr friend will carry you and you’ll just worry about tagging stuff, then 40+ you’ll start getting the traits and skill variety to actually dish out some damage. If a mes is what you like playing, then play a mes – balancing comes and goes depending on the PvP flavor of the month.
