Q:
Customized Soundtrack? Anything More?
A:
I have custom playlists of my own, but I don’t even think that I use all 8. But the ones they give cover all the aspects of the game.
But it’s less ‘tracks’ and more ‘playlists’. I do it as an iTunes playlist, saved with the appropriate soundtrack names, and exported into the GW2 folder. So my boss battle playlist is 20 or so songs that will play randomly through the boss fight.
When you want to go back to the GW2 music, all you do is delete the playlist files you put in the game folder and the music will revert back to the standard music. There’s no risk (that I’ve come across) to losing the actual game music.
The one complaint I have is that transition is not entirely smooth nor does it kick in right away. Namely the standard ‘battle’ list – you need to be in combat for more than a couple trash mobs to kick in, and if you don’t stay in combat the playlist turns off. Which is sometimes annoying, sometimes funny for standard fights outside of events and open world champ fights.

I love my custom soundtrack. I use Windows Media Player Playlists for mine. They all work great except for Boss Battles. The Boss Battles playlist does not play randomly – every other list does, but not that one. I’ve seen that adding a short blank track at the beginning will make it randomize, but no luck. Any ideas?
Side note: I really wish we had more customization options for custom soundtracks. I’d love to set up Vista Music, race specific town music, and maybe an option to kick in the fight music on normal fights earlier instead of waiting for a mob of 5 or more to trigger it.
