Q:
Hello,
I recently found on the wiki the article that shows us how to customize our sountrack: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Customized_soundtrack but I have a couple of questions.
1. This isn’t considered modifying the client, right? So changing the music is legal, in other words?
2. It mentions overriding the in-game music. What if I want to add my own tracks while also being able to hear the vanilla tracks? How would I accomplish this?
Thanks!
EDIT: just tried the steps outlined in the wiki, all my music seems to disappear for some reason. The tracks I added are in .mp3 format.

This is a feature of the game (and thats why the game installer made that folder for you). So it is fully legal, and maybe even supported.
I suspect that the problem with the mp3 is that it was made with a specifick codec, wich isn’t in the games audioplayer. If you made these mp3’s yourself by e.g. ripping them off cd’s (you bought yourself offcourse and are in you home) then you might want to try and do that again with a different codec (in most ripping software you can choose wich codec to use, if that option isn’t available it is such a generic codec that it will be supported). If you got the mp3 from other sources – shame on you – then it might be a more exotic codec. Hope this answers your question a bit??
Yeah, I just realized it might’ve been some awkward codec that I used to convert. I was using some music from a Skyrim mod, but it had some weird format, XWM, so I had to use a converter for it. I tried some regular owned mp3s and they worked like a charm. Thanks!
Though I just used a Ambient.m3u playlist, the main menu music gets replaced too. I’m not sure why.
