Note: The intent of this is to not be a philosophical discussion, rather a mechanical discussion.

I noticed about a week ago that I was getting kinda close to being able to make my first Legendary, so decided to go into a bit of a ‘push’ mode. I have most of the mats ready to go, and have saved up enough money for the 2 recipes and 100 stones I need. I think I’m short on maybe 3 T6 mats and some crystalline dust (which I have more than enough ectos to salvage to make up the difference).

Now that I’m out farming those T6 mats, I was hoping to maybe get a better understanding of how to work with DR to get the best effect.

Is it something we know the timing on for sure, like it starts to fall off after ‘n’ minutes? Is there a trick where “if you see ‘x’ after ‘y’ kills, then you know it’s kinda settled in”, and should move on? Once it hits you, how long do you have to wait before you can start trying again?

I was thinking I could use 2-3 characters doing very different things in very different zones and move around a bit between them. And in all honesty, it’s possible I just don’t even play enough to be affected by it, but was curious as to whether I was, and if there was anything I could do to help shape my play around it to get the best results.

Thanks!

There is NO DR on farming mats. DR only applies to weapons and armor drops and to exp and karma from events.

I have farmed Arctodus in Frostgorge for maybe 8-10 hours once, and noted the number of T6 mats after each 30 minutes, and in the end it was more or less the same even after 10 hours.

EVERY MMO is awesome until it is released then its unfinished. A month after release it just sucks.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.

Oh wow, I didn’t realize that. I had always thought it effects everything that drops from creatures.

Well, if that’s true, now I feel silly because I had ‘heard’ about DR shortly after we all started when the game launched, and I can remember being in Lornar’s Pass with my main way back when and moving around from area to area and sometimes logging out for awhile and playing an alt because I had thought I’d get hit with it, trying to collect materials for crafting.

Good to know, if that’s true, thanks.

When they started with DR it was when everybody did tunnel events in Orr and we just sold all the green and blue trash to NPCs and mobs there only dropped bones that were worth nothing, and everyone was happy earning 2g per hour

These days people seem to have forgotten how much less money we made those days, and whenever they think its not enough they make DR responsible, even if they don’t know how it really works.

Else i have noticed that they have changed DR recently. I was leveling a new character, and before Megaserver i chain-farmed 2 events in Dredgehaunt on 3 servers until DR kicked in. When i logged out after that for 1 hour or so, i could normally start again farming maybe an hour.

This time logging out didn’t work. Also the DR kicked in much slower than before, where i got maybe 10,000 exp for the event and suddenly only 300. Now i got 10.000 after a while i got 8.000 and a while later 6.000 .. and then i suddenly asked myself .. hm … haven’t i got more a while ago ?
Then i did 2-3 events in another zone, went back to Dredghaunt, got 10.000 first time, and directly less the next time and so on.

Honestly I wouldn’t farm mats individually. Doing dungeons instead and buying the mats with that gold would be much more fun and probably faster! I don’t know what class you play but as long as you run your class’s zerker meta build and only join/form groups of similar people, you can finish a path in 5-20 minutes usually. With that money you can buy 2-3 T6 mats per path depending on the path and the mat, which is pretty great if you can do those dungeons that fast.In addition you’ll get more T6 from champ bag and you can get lodestones and cores from chests.

I do AC 1/3 CoF1 and SE1 each day at the very least, usually adding in TA up/fwd CM 1 and 3 or CoE/Arah paths if I have more time on that day.

Yeah .. the good thing is, the more people doing that, the higher the prices of T6 mats get.

I really wait for the day when T6 mats hit 1g, and people start crying that doing dungeons isn’t worth it
