It seems strange the daily achievement reset time is midnight UTC. For players in the Americas, this means reset happens pretty much during prime-time play (4-9 pm for most Americas locations).

I suppose if you haven’t done your daily achievement from the previous day this is nice as you can “squeeze” in two days’ worth in a single night, but for those players who can just play an hour or two each evening, having a reset time right in the middle of the evening means some days I sign in to play and need to stop for the evening before the reset happens.

Since the game is already divided into two regions, why not have the Americas version reset sometime which would be a much lower access time for that part of the globe. 10:00 UTC would be 2 am – 7 am for most of Americas which is probably much less active.

The game is actually region-less. You can play on any of the servers if you choose to.

It’s the universal time that makes it easy to do everything at once on every server across the world. No matter where you play, it happens at the same moment for everyone.

Yeah, I know the game is region-less, but there is still the general concept of US and EU worlds. So you’d think those in the US area could be timed for reset differently as I’m sure the majority of players on US servers are not in the EU. See here: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/World

Heh, usually EU suffers from that – like maintenance during daytime in Europe (because of US). Now it’s vice-versa. Funny.

Agreed. I actually prefer it this way.

UTC is the new GMT. I would suggest everyone start getting accustomed to this.
