Guild Wars 2

Pretty much what the title says. I took a break from GW2, friends started playing the game but are on a different server than me and now I am not able to play WvWvW with them. You see my problem.

Now my question is: Am I able to delete all my character in order to choose a different home server or am I forced to buy gems in order to do that so I can finally play with my friends?

I think you’ll find you “have” to buy gems to tranfer.

It’s not your characters, it’s your account, your characters go with you.

Well if that’s true, that would suck. I get that they want to make money but why would they punish people for choosing the wrong server by mistake? Now I’m forced to buy gems or farm my butt off in game to get 35g in order to play with my friends.

That’s not how it should be, and gets me pretty bummed out. Stuff like that is what makes a person wanna quit the game.

Confirmed! Deleted all my characters and was able to transfer for free! Thanks!

Funny how your signature “This sentence is false.” increases the confusion and misinformation about this whole argument, which received mixed and contradictory replies in various threads! I’m joking, obviously ;)

Anyway I’m gonna try this too, since I’ve just joined the GW2 community but choose the wrong home server. I’ll report my experience as well, in order to clarify the misinformation about this topic once for all.

Anyway, it seems this is something ANet implemented really recently (less than two weeks ago): players that tried deleting their characters just three weeks ago had no luck and had to pay a server transfer.

If this is true, then it’s a really good thing for new players like me, who might be really confused about servers differences and often fail to choose the right one the first time. Good move ANet.

This is the best MMO right now and this transfer thing is a crock of crapola. My family and I transferred from Tarnished Coast to Henge of Denravi to be with another family member back when it was being told you can transfer every 7 days, that was a free move. Now we have friends from Tarnished Coast asking us to come back and start a guild and I can’t because I don’t have any gems. Oh yeah we just spent like 300 more dollars on this game for bank space. I know you guys at ArenaNet have to make some money but dang man, can one of the Anet guru’s answer as to why it is so much or why it is cost anything when it was told it was going to be free to transfer back in the day. I thought you all were better than Blizzard, this blows monkey chunks! How about a free transfer back to the server you started from and made friends with??

oh yeah I would just delete my five toons and do a free move but those toons have bank tabs established, hence the 300 bucks extra in your pockets Anet…..

I don’t think the bank is server specific (unlike guild storage), so you should be able to access all of that stuff, including the expanded storage, from any server you transfer to.

It was said BEFORE release that eventually it was gonna cost money to transfer…
Also seriously people only speak answer this kind of topics if you actually KNOW it, not if you only think you know it, The amount of misinformation being spewed around on these forums is HUGE
