Did I miss something?
When you 1st start into the game, you will be in the “Tutorial Area” that will end once you kill the “End Boss” of that area (Boss different per race).
The little help hints you get as you level is pretty much your own personal tutoring you will get. Otherwise I learned its a decent amount of trial and error, or just asking friendly guildies what they know of a subject.
The Tutorial starts at level 1 when you’re playing your first Story Mission, however, the game lacks proper tutorial in my opinion.
I played GW2 since the beta and I would be more than happy to guide you though.
I’ll be your personal tutorial if you want. =) It should be fun.
I’m about to get on game in 5 minutes. I’ll contact you soon if you’re still online playing.
You can also add me on Skype if you like to voice chat while gaming. It does make communication easier if you’re up for it.

Yes, this game doesn’t lead you about the nose, or explain all the various indicators or controls on your screen, or audible signals. The wiki helps but those player created sticky threads at the top of this board helps far more in the department of “did you know that …?”.
RIP City of Heroes
The starting window is linking to a tutorial video (or did they change it??)

It’s not a great tutorial video, but helps a lot if your really new
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
When you first start you’re in an instanced area where you have to fight a bunch of enemies and then a boss. At the end of it you wake up the next morning and get enough XP to reach level 2 (if you haven’t already), plus some other items.
That was apparently your tutorial.
For some reason Anet are really against the idea of doing a proper tutorial, even an optional one, in spite of the fact that they did it in GW1 (most noticeably in Factions and Nightfall) and a lot of people frequently held it up as an example of a tutorial done right.
During the betas a lot of people complained that it was confusing and many things were never explained, so they ‘compromised’ by adding the hints. Which IMO can make things worse because a lot of them don’t make sense until you already know what they’re telling you.
They’re preparing to release the game in China and apparently one of the things they’ve been working on is explaining things to new players so it might get better in the future.
For now your best bet is to join a friendly guild, use the wiki (at the top of the page) and ask in-game or on here if you don’t understand something.
“Life’s a journey, not a destination.”
Considering the way this game plays and how simple so many things are, I really like the trail by fire attitude, with a hint here and there. Unlike other mmo’s I have played that have long dragged out tutorials on how to do something that should be simple, but is overly complex, FOR NO dam reason. And you still don’t get it.
Well one question I have for now. How do you get pets? The ones that attack.

Welcome to GW2.
If you hit some questions in the future feel free to ask here, join a helpfull guild or use the wiki (type in the ingame chat window ‘/wiki’, or even if you want to know more bout a personal story with the name fury of the dead just type ‘/wiki Fury of the Dead’
The are animal companions, only rangers can use those. if you are a ranger you can ‘charm’ juvenile animals if you are close (it just pop’s up if you are close enough, just like interact or talk).
Necromancers can summon minions (undead servants)
Mesmers can summon clones
Engineers can summon stationarry turrets.

That is just awesome. After so many years I think I FINALLy found a MMO I can stick to. Bout DAM time!
Everything in this game seems well balanced but at the same time you can mix and match with the races and classes to get REALLY good results(I may be wrong) But is there ANY class/race thats just Over powers all in this game?
It is an awesome game and I hope you do stick to it for a very long time.
The stickies for this forum are very good and worth reading especially the tips for new players one.
As for class that overpowers everything, well you will read a lot of differing opinions on that. Race really does not matter at all so choose whatever suits your fancy. I think most people agree that the warrior is the simplest to play for a beginner and they are pretty tough as well.
Not really although opinions about that vary a lot. There is a difference between the classes that could be called “easier to play” but that too is really up to the player.
Like an Elementalist can seem a hard class to play and level and I concur on that front but others don’t feel that at all.
And there seems to be a lot to do about Rangers and how they suck because there is no real pet control, I however love to play a Ranger.
Just try everything, no harm in trying something and deleting the char if it’s not what you want (make sure to store items in the bank before doing that or you will lose them).
And don’t be afraid to use the forum or the wiki or ask in-game, if you’re not certain about something, options in game are huge and mistakes get made every day. So if you get to a point where you want to transmute something for example, make sure you know what will happen. You can go to the wiki from inside the game by typing /wiki (item name, location and so on). Typing that and hitting enter will take you directly to the wiki.
I’m pretty sure you have indeed found the mmo you can keep playing (or just get back into if you took a break)!

Wow! That is another thing I have been looking for in a MMO. FREEDOM of developing your characters play style. Every class on here can do range and melee. I love that. Instead with other mmo’s where a mage is just a dam mage. I hate that, makes the game boring before you even start. Yeah, I think im sticking with this game for sure. Biggest moment that really got me and my friend was the exploration and the underwater battles….That still blows my mind!

Are you going to come online?
I’m still playing the game, just waiting on you if you want some help.
At the moment I am at work. Soon as I get off I am getting on it.
