Trying to meet up with a friend in a party, but we can’t seem to see each other, you know before when this was happening, he told me he was playing while it was still downloading, so I figured that was the issue. I have it updated all the way, he didn’t, alright.

But now we’re both updated / patched.. still can’t see each other. Created party, created squad, changing zones, logging out.. etc, nothing works. There’s no ‘join zone’ or ‘join instance’ or ‘join in’ anywhere so.. Not sure if it matters but I own the vanilla game, with a serial key, and I invited him, so he has a free to play account.

Nothing really works, any advice to try? I figured this was the right section as it may not be a ‘bug’ but something we could be missing.

Are you both playing on the same server region (EU or NA)? If one is on EU and the other NA, you won’t be able to play together. If you’re both on the same region and both on the same game update version, then I’m not sure what the issue could be.

If you are in the same party, right click on his name. There should be an option to “join in the <map instance>.”

1) It doesn’t matter what version of the game you have. It’s possible for someone with HoT, someone with a paid account without the expansion and someone with a free account could all be in a party and playing together.

2) Updates can make a difference however. You need to be both running the same version of the game to meet up, and the simplest way to do that is to make sure you’re both completely up to date. (Sometimes it doesn’t matter, but it’s an easy problem to eliminate so it’s worth trying.)

3) You need to be in the same region. If one of you is on EU servers and one is on NA then you won’t be able to meet up unless one of you switches region.

4) You need to be in the same physical location in-game for ‘Join in [map name] to appear’. If one of you is in LA and one is in Queensdale you won’t see that option. But go to the same map (and be in the same region) and it’ll work.

Region’s the issue here after asking him, as everything else matches.

One of us is gonna have to change regions, but how does someone change regions?

Something that isn’t transferring ‘cause he’s new and free to play so gems aren’t.. a thing. Good chance he’ll have to restart entirely and pick an NA region, but I’m not an expert on that.

If he deletes all his characters he’ll be able to transfer for free.

Any items he wants to keep which aren’t soulbound can go in the bank and they’ll be saved. Anything which is tied to the account as a whole like gold, gems, achievements, skins in the wardrobe etc. will be saved automatically.

So all he’ll lose is any progress on his characters and any soulbound items.

Free accounts can not transfer worlds.

I guess that’s why deleting all characters didn’t work for him, oh well. But that’s fine, he created another account and we’re both on NA.

I knew free accounts can’t select a specific server, but you can pick which region you’re in so I assumed the transfer option would still be available. But I just checked on my free account, even deleted my characters to start over, and I wasn’t able to transfer.

I assumed since you can pick a region (and since it restricts who you can play with) it’d be possible to transfer. It seems like an odd thing to stop them doing.
