Hi,

I have a few friend’s trialing Guild Wars 2, but they’re complaining about the game constantly nagging them to buy Heart of Thorns. Is there a way to disable this? It’s just convincing them this game is begging for funds.

When you start a f2p account there is one icon that will flash until you open it and either accept or decline. If decline the icon will go away and it wont show up very often after that.

So the only point were your friend will be bothered is when he/she clicks on something that belongs to HoT (like trying to buy something in store that is locked to HoT, or trying to buy or sell something on the trading post that is restricted or if he/she is trying to use a map chat or the like, and if he/she stops doing that, there wont be a pop up
I guess you could argue that it should not be a reminder when clicking it, but to be fair it would be kind of strange if you perform a click and nothing happens and no explanation about it :P

Also if your friends feel this game is annoying about trying to get you to buy something, ask them to play any other f2p mmo out there and they will realize how mildly you get treated around this by GW2

I don’t know how to quotes, but “Also if your friends feel this game is annoying about trying to get you to buy something, ask them to play any other f2p mmo out there and they will realize how mildly you get treated around this by GW2” – I know, right?

All the same, it is hard enough to convince people to try a new MMO. Flashing “Buy this at them,” screams back away slowly.

Thanks Leaa, this helped!
