Q:
Dive! Dive! Aoooogah!
There’s no key bound to it by default but you can set one in the keybinds menu.
Maybe X would be a good key?
I hope ^^^that helps…..But i have to say your intro is Classic! …………………
There’s the other solution which is very situational. But if you jump from a high enough spot into deep enough water the momentum will carry you underwater. But that also seems like more hassle than it’s worth just to avoid adjusting your camera. It is an alternative though.
I bound swim down to “X” but IIRC it doesn’t work on the initial change from surface swimming to underwater swimming. I’ll have to double check it next time I get a chance to play.
“Excellent! Now we can attack in any direction!”
As space is up I entered shift-space for down.

I have page up/down keybound for swimming, but you’re right, it doesn’t work on the transition from surface to underwater, which is what I was going for. Hmm, this might be worth putting in suggestions.
I have run into this same issue! I sometimes play on my MacBook during my lunch break at work, and it is extremely difficult to use the touchpad to adjust camera angles to dive. I did key bind a swim down button for full z axis control, but the initial breaking of the surface still eluded me.
Solution: From the surface of the water, jump forward; mid jump, hit your swim down key bind while holding your forward key bind. This usually will provide enough momentum from the jump to break the surface and get you underwater.
It’s annoying, but seems functional enough.
