Guild Wars 2

So I am running a Mace/shield + Staff build with power, tough and healing. My gear is exotic and I have superior runes of monk and water. I am a Healing/boon support build. I believed that my build was pretty good for tanky/support build until I decided to run with those guys who do the “speed cof p1 farm only exp players no noobs”. I kinda died at the gate part while in the pilar because the guy on the gate died and we had to reset. At reset I grabbed agro from two pilars and had 9 on me. We got through but I died right after the gate opened.

So these guys asked what my build is and I said tank/support and they were like “lol” “you died fast” and I was like 9 were on me and they said that they had 9 on them b4 and survived on their tank guardians. I just passed the pty off as a elitist bunch of kittens. However it made me wonder if it is possible to handle 9 and if I am doing something wrong.

During that part what I guess you did wong is that you engaged the mobs. It’s alot more effective to just run around in circles so their attacks miss since you have no need to kill them.

Build your toon however you want. Im guessing you found this group on gw2lfg.com? I see so many speed run zerker party + mesmer posts..the site has lost its luster a little.

In any case, who cares what they think. I COF farm on my necro vampire build. No I dont kill nearly as fast as a zerker warrior or anything like that. But in a pinch, I could take a punch that they probably cant, and still be on my feet. On this character, my contribution is the following:

-Tanky. At times, I have “hate”, as this game calls it.
-I dont go down easily. Beneficial, my group does not need to spend time rezzing me.
-Combo fields/life steal combo fields(two of them I believe).
-AOE condition removal.

I think thats pretty decent. The day that dungeon runs force me to go complete zerker, is the day i stop playing..(I say this a lot in many different aspects, but this one is as true). I want to play and build my toon however I like to. For my necro, its a life steal/vampire build. For my warrior, it is a glass cannon build, but I am using Knights gear. For my thief, glass cannon build, full zerker set…P/P.

I play how I want and so should you.

skill is more a factor in how well you stay alive than gear/build is. high toughness may let you take 50% more hits, but knowing when to dodge or use skills that get you out of harm’s way can let you take 300% more hits (meaning they miss 3/4 of the time).

I agree with mystic. Just google some builds. There are a lot of good ones for each class, and even tweak them to fit your playstyle. People that do those zerker party + mesmer CoF path 1 runs…yah, you can complete it in..13 minutes. I’ll do it in 15-20, with a hodgepodge of classes and still get the same out of it. Only difference is, Im not an kitten
