Ok so, Im gonna completely start over, i deleted all my characters and changed servers because the server i was on was pretty empty so i joined a high pop server.

Im gonna be doing a Warrior, because they are just my style of play and are good at pretty much everything.

But my problem is i REALLY like the look of the Charr in heavy armor they have this Dragon like look going for them.

But then i read all this stuff about how no one plays Charr or Norn because they are too big and it makes their animations easy to see especially on a Warrior.

Is this true?

Does it really make a huge difference in PvP the size of your character?

or is any real difference it would make negligible?

It is a very small difference.
The animation time in the smallest asura and the tallest norn are the same, also the hit box in both are the same, it is just a bit harder to see the animations on small characters, that is a really small advantage against experienced players, if you are not thinking in playing PvP competitively/hardcore then character size is no issue.

Like Belzebu said it only makes a difference in PvP/WvW where you become slightly harder to target and follow. Its not a big advantage and is more of a nuisance to whoever you are fighting. I just like the feeling that I’m moving faster with a small toon vs a large one. When I switched from playing a large Charr to a mini Asura I noticed jumping puzzles became alot easier. They take up way less screen space and allow you to better maneuver around tight corners. The only real issue I’ve had is the bad camera angle while stacking.

Once you have spells and particles going off you aren’t going to see anything regardless … especially if you have a guardian nearby. >_>

Character size is most important for pvp. Norn and Charr have VERY overt tells. People can more easily see when you are using certain skills because you are bigger and swing your arms wider. Asura is where it’s at. It’s much harder to distinguish their tells.

Otherwise size doesn’t matter. The actual hitboxes are the same.

It’s not the size that matters, it’s how you use it that counts.

I agree with Highchu.
The strongest difference is that Jumping Puzzles are vastly more easy with small chars.
Additionally your camera hight is tied to your character height so camera on large chars tend to get caught on surroundings earlier. Meaning navigating through somewhere with a low ceiling will be no problem on an Asura but can be barf-inducing on a large Norn (motion sickness ahoi). Learned that in the Troll JP in LA.

Some tonic still allow you to jump, like the toy tonics, that fix the issue of JP and toon size, but particularly I don’t feel that much of a difference, I completed every JP (except the Not So Secret, I used portal there) with my nearly max size Norn w/o the use of tonics.

True, but tonics add hilarity. On my larger chars I usually jump as plush griff. Easier AND cuter =p

If the jump is high enough, yes.

I made the golem mini but I didn’t have the material for the tonic.

EDIT: LOL we derailed this topic haha
