So in PvP, I got this shortbow skin which I fell in love with. Looks like this:

So obviously, I started researching on how you can get for PvE.
After some time, I discovered they were cultural weapons but the skin I want only exists there for the longbow. While the shortbow skin is instead this:

So I mainly want to know. Does this skin even exist in PvE for the shortbow? Or did I just fall for a ‘The cake is a lie’?

eh..so you want a shortbow that looks like a longbow? The graphic is the same, its just the size difference..if that is your issue then yeah you’re hosed..because as far as I know all shortbows are well..short

Those are not the same skin. Not even close. For starters, one is huge, while the other one is very little. Secondly, the longbow skin has some cool sparks / animation all over it. The shortbow does not, it has a little ‘fume’ barely noticeable kind of thing.

As for a shortbow that looks like a longbow, there’s plenty of skins out there that are shortbow skins and are big like longbows. Aether, Corrupted Shortbow and so on. But that’s not the point. I was just mainly wondering if the skin existed for the shortbow, since it’s very misleading for it to exist as a shortbow skin in PvP while it does not in PvE.

I love big weapons, but since I’m a shortbow user I’m very limited in my options. So I was pretty exited to see such a magnificent shortbow skin in PvP when I got it. Only to maybe end up being disappointed that it does not even exist for PvE.

I looks more like the PvP version has a bugged skin. It wouldn’t be the first such PvP item.

They are the peacemaker bows – tier 3 asura cultural weapons. You can get them from Tredd in Rata Sum for 63.000 karma. It is possible to preview them both and their particle effects before buying them and the short bow is… shorter than the long bow :P

Ebon Vanguard bow sold for Karma in Fields of Ruin are both the same size, I use those skins.

For the record, not all particle effects show in the preview. In some cases (e.g., sylvari T3) parts of the weapon are flat-out missing. Look at a screenshot taken outside of the preview window before you assume that effects are or aren’t there.

That said, lots of items in the PVP locker are put in the wrong category concerning their PVE counterparts or, as you seem to have guessed, don’t exist in PVE.

Ebon Vanguard Shortbow is bugged, its “short” version exists in the files but somehow you cannot buy it from the vendor (you get it with the longbow skin).
