I got this game on release and i have only played a few hours since then, i really like the game i just cant fully grasp it. i would appreciate it if you guys could help me understand what to do. For example, i don’t understand how crafting works in this game, also i don’t understand dungeons and how they work. Another reason is that none of my friends play this game so i would like to meet some people online and play together because playing alone is boring. Thank you.

There’s nothing to grasp.

There’s a huge giant world in front of you. Do what you want and you will meet new friends along the way.

Hello! I may recommend checking out some websites that advertise for Guilds. Look for active ones with traits that you feel you would get along well with. (Since you’ve only played a few hours since release, I’m guessing something pretty casual)

Regarding Crafting: Crafting is usually based on discovering recipes. There are some good guides you can check out.

The first dungeon you can get into is Ascalonian Catacombs at about lvl 30. >.> This one’s located in the Charr Starting Area, and you will want to have a full party of 5 people. Start with Story mode. Just follow the lead of the more experienced members. Oh, and I’d recommend avoiding speed runs as a newer player (speedrunners tend not to have patience for new players in my experience, which is unfortunate.)

Getting into a friendly guild will make a huge difference. Also, YouTube and Google are your best friends. I learned a lot about crafting and making gold, running dungeons, what traits to pick, and many other things from videos and forum posts and talking with my guildies.

The obstacle is the path.

I too was baffled by the game. I didn’t know what I was suppose to do or what the heck was going on.
I am now 3 days in and getting to know how things work. Have no fear, things slowly start to become clear, half of the learning is half of the fun.
The great thing about GW2 is that when you do learn how something works, you can always go back and use that new information.

This helped me a lot…..

I played the first game for almost 6 years so don’t worry, the feeling of complete confusion is normal. I was the same when I started GW2. Just do things bit by bit. If you try to figure out/understand the whole game and everything in it in a day your head will probably explode

You should join a Guild asap, makes it less boring when you have a constant bunch chatting away in Guild chat while you do things and they can help if you get stuck etc. etc. Theres a Guild recruitment section on the forums or else you could just look out for them in game, probably Lions Arch is your best bet but theres always Guilds posting their resume out in the field too.

Lol thanks Morrigan for the shout out for Union!

@Alpha Union is a good place to meet some awesome folks. Guesting is not out yet so we can’t mobilize fully. However there maybe some folks on you’re server but there are a lot on both EU and NA sides.

I recommend reading the stickys first. I recommend not to read my thread unless you have 1 years supplies and a sherpa. There’s over 700 posts. XD

When you feel ready just drop in there, any troubles just ask anybody on that thread.

Good luck!

Warrior is probably the best class for a new player to start out with, as its mechanics are pretty straightforward and your heavy armor and higher health pool means you’ll die less often. Once you’re more familiar with the combat mechanics, try branching out into other classes, because they’re all pretty fun to play.
