Donating gold to a buddy
Allowed yes. If you/your friend will get banned for it accidentially, no one knows.
Currently playing Heart of Thorns.
ok, unless your friend somehow stole a credit card or a paypal account, bought gems and exchanged them for money, then somehow the owner of the stolen CC does a chargeback, you should not have any problems. The above situation is not very unlikely, but I don’t see why you shouldn’t trust your friend.
Assuming you are scared to do it via mail:
Have the friend put the money into the guild bank, and then you can withdraw it.
If you are super paranoid, list something low-level/super cheap on the trading post for the amount of gold you want to exchange and have your buddy buy it. The downside, of course, is that you will pay a listing fee and some of the sale will be taken automatically. This is the worst idea, though, economically.

I would not recommend this since this is mostly what gold farmers do. Just send the money if there is a problem contact support and sort it out.
Oh, they do?
I had assumed they did it via the mail system. I’ve never seen them in action, outside of getting spam in-game mail that I report.
Please definitely do ignore my suggestion if it’s what gold sellers are doing.

Snip
That’s how me and 2 other guildies loaned each other gold so all of us could get the Golden title. After that, true to the nature of the game, there was RNG banning, I got a permanent ban for gold selling/buying which required a ticket and 27 hours wait time to fix. My guildies did not and I wasn’t the highest loaner/receiver but the mid level one.
So if you trade money OP, however you do it, provide lots of documentation through chat logs and email as to what and why you are doing it each time you do it so if either of you get a ban you can appeal it. Smaller sums are less likely to trigger it but the amount that triggers a ban is unknown. And no, they don’t apologize when you appeal and get a reversal. >.>
I’ve sent one-off sums of money up to 100g through the mail no problem.
As long as you don’t start sending significant sums to lots of people over a short period there shouldn’t be a problem.
Just recently my guild moved server and our guild leader helped a few people out with the fee from the guild bank. (We’re talking thousands of gold.) He got banned for it at first but it all got sorted out eventually.

I’ve sent 200g via mail a few times, never had an issue.
