Hello everyone

This is a question directed at those of you who have worked a while on or already completed the Ambrite Weapon Collection.

I think about doing this one and prefer to estimate the effort needed to complete it. The acquisition of most ingredients is calculable, but what I didn’t find was Drop Rate Research concerning Unidentified Fossilized Insects (16 needed for the collection) from Buried Locked Chests.

What has been your experience working on this collection? Are the Unidentified Fossilized Insects rare? If yes, how many Chests did you have to open per Insect or for the whole collection?

Thanks in advance.

The best way to complete this collection is to use the Maguma Waste reward track from PVP (and WvW iirc). There are several reasons to choose this way:

1. Chests are only available in small quantities for 20m per hour.
2. Drop rate is abysmal.
3. To get enough chests to get all the insects, you will need to spend TONS of geodes on Zephyrite lockpicks, and geodes take a TON of grinding to accumulate (hardest non-retired currency in the game to get).
4. On reward tracks, you are guaranteed a fossilized bug every time you complete the track, at the same time you will get geodes faster than farming them. And you will need the geodes to buy the recipes for ambrite weapons.

I wouldn’t say the drop rate is “abysmal”. But its definitely not something you’re going to get every couple of chests without rather good luck.

I haven’t completed the collection (and probably never will) but I do have about 6 of the weapons. I think the quickest I’ve gotten a fossilized insect was about 10 chests, and the longest “drought” I’ve had was about 60 or so.

The reward track is definitely the better option if you’re into PvP.

I guess I’ll be doing it with the reward track then. Never been a fan of RNG, essentially when the dropchance is low.
Not really a PvP player, but I occasionally play it and do the dailies in PvP.

Thanks for the answers

There is also the WvW track so you can work on two at once.
