My fiance and I are starting to really play together and we were looking for some good challenges in open world PvE. Would anyone mind suggesting some meta events, champs, or mini dungeons that 2 players can do? My fiance is a lv60 Necro while I am a lv80 Mesmer.

Thanks in advance! ^^

Here you go:
Champions: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/List_of_champions
Min-Dungeons: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Mini-dungeon

Keep in mind that lots of groups farm Champs in certain locations in a specific order over and over (a “Champ Train”) and killing them out of “rotation” (the order the zerg / group in the area are currently doing them) is considered rude and may result in hostile reactions from the Train passengers. Note there are also players out there that enjoy derailing Champ Trains just to see the childish reactions from the riders (it is rather amusing to watch). While there are plenty of locations that may be running Champ Trains the most popular are in Forstgorge Sound and in the various Orr zones.

There is nothing wrong with hunting down specific Champs with a small group for a challenge, but it may be considered bad manners to not announce that the Champ is up in map chat, so others can join in and get the rewards.

What nonsense. Ignore them, block them, turn off map chat. Just because some people create an arbitrary “farm route” doesn’t mean the universe has to bend to their whims.

Every map has champs, many of them can be done solo, If you want pick a map within the 68 and under range that either of you have not yet gotten completely done and just clear it, hit the out of the way events, champs, mini dungeons and see how far you get. There is a ton of content that gets bypassed that is quite fun to do.

Does it have to be open world pve though? I’d recommend to look into storymode dungeons.

I second AC story. It’s not terribly difficult (and berserker or knights level 80 gear works quite well in there). Your most challenging part would be the trash at the top of the stairs (boss is easy, trash is brutal), and Ralena and Vassar. CM story is doable, but you’ll need a lot more game experience since the mobs in there are very annoying and “twitchy”. TA story would also be doable, but the end fight is a big jump in challenge from the rest of the dungeon when shortmanning.

Definitely do all the mini dungeons. Vexa’s Lab, Old Oola’s Lab, Tears of Itlaocol, and Forsaken Fortune are very creative and have a lot of fun challenges, and two of them (Oola’s and Forsaken) have good lore tie-ins if you’re interested in the backstory. Flame Temple Tombs is also quite fun, but due to how much it’s being farmed it’s not something you’ll really be able to duo that often.

Most champions are quite fun to solo/duo, though risen ones are probably the most difficult. The champion Branded Fish in Fields of Ruin is also pretty brutal. Fields of Ruin in general has a lot of available champion fights and is quite fun to just explore.

When it’s not bugged, the Branded Devourer Queen event chain in Iron Marches is really fun and a good challenge to work on together, as you’ll be required to split up and keep two events working in concert to make it easier for each other.

You should try AC story. Did it in semi-exotic gear with a non 80 with a flamethrower engineer, and I rarely do PvE stuff (I always get a friend to help me do Living Story stuff), so you won’t have to much trouble finishing it, while it still is challenging enough.

Top tip, if a champ appears and the event is a group event…..advertise it to the map or you won’t be able to complete it, those champs are designed to be much tougher than ordinary ones.

I guess should have put the word RUDE in quotes to properly convey my opinion on the statement….I simply mentioned it as a new player should be aware that other players may take exception to having “their Champs being poached” (again….not saying I agree with them, but that doesn’t change how some players can react when it happens).

Personally, I feel killing a Champ out of the Train order is in no way a violation of any rules of conduct but doing so with the specific intent to PO 20+ other players just might be…..(tho it is amusing and slightly sad to see map chat when this happens).

Soloing Champs is often a challenge of combat longevity, but 2 players should NOT have any insurmountable issues taking one out. If they do, they should seriously question their builds, current equipment and skill level. Certainly newer players may find it difficult but they CAN be soloed (but per above, it may take a while).

Noah, if you are looking for a few neat ones to start with, here’s my favorites. They are also good to learn the game mechanics – and how to beat some special foes.

1. Ketsurak (wiki him) can be soloed trivially – but if approached inappropriately, he can wipe teams very easily.

2. Toxic Spider Queen – she has an interesting mechanic and a good dancefloor around her. Definitely worth trying to 2-man. Can be soloed as well, if you follow a few simple rules.

3. Fluffy – he isn’t really fluffy, but he’s giant and underwater. Will let you get used to your underwater skills and survival.

4. Lieutenant Kholer and the Spider Queen – Kholer has a time-proven effective method to kill inattentive players. The Spider Queen teaches you sometimes positioning beats sheer dodging reflex. And it teaches you that cleansing trumps reflection sometimes.

All in all, there are plenty of rewarding experiences in-game. If you have a question about how to beat my own favorites, give me a poke

There is a difference between a champ and Group Champ. Would love to watch somebody solo the Giant in Ascalon…..not even you could do that.

You need to read the wiki article on Champions. Yes Champions that spawn at the end of an Event Chain are often more powerful but all of them scale up (both BOON, HP and ATTACK wise) based on the number of nearby players.

I in no way implied that I had any special battle talents in this area (but I have soloed my share of Champs). I’d rank myself as a C+ to B+ combatant, but defeating a Champ solo is more about know their patterns, proper timing to avoid damage an being able to keep them from resetting (by either luring them too far away from their spawn or them “timing out”). Nothing sucks worse than getting a Champ down to a sliver of health and then have them turn their back on you and slowly wander back to their spawn point while regenerating all their HP…..

I’m not sure what “Giant in Ascalon” you are talking about. The only true Giant Champ I can recall is Kol Skullsmasher in Harathi….He’s very tough (I’ve never soloed him, but there are numerous Youtube videos showing it being done).

Me and my S/O pretty much exclusively play with one another. Yours being lv 60 might have a bit of a trouble to begin with but you can pretty much do most content. We regularly run dungeons, you will find a lot of unique ways to take on bosses etc(I would recommend her getting to lv 80 first for build versatility etc) when duoing and in open world one you get to Orr there is a lot to do there and before i guess my fav area is norn area so you can wander around there.

You’d be surprised at how many Champions in the open world can be solo’ed. This includes some really tough Champions such as Kol Skullsmasher in Harathi Hinterlands.

The Krait Witches are some of the most difficult Champs to tackle. Even I wouldn’t dare take them on with just two players.

That’s the guy,

Nagling Giant. (note that is NOT the Ascalon starter area…..it’s the next zone up).

I’ve defeated him solo, but it takes time and reasonable skill (certainly knowledge of when to disengage and avoid his big damage knockdowns). Now keep in mind that was with a down-leveled 80 in full Exotics. I agree that taking him down solo with an actual same level character (lvl 18) with comparable equipment would be quite the heroic feat (but I’m sure some hardcore player has done it).
