Dye question
It may also be related to your armor material (i.e. metallic or leather). There’s a sort option in the dye menu (the cog) that can sort your dyes by material. I’ve found many colors to appear lighter/darker because they were meant for a certain material.
Funny, I’ve found the hero panel colors to be brighter than the game world.
I hadn’t thought about the material the armor is made out of affecting the look of the dye thanks!
I’m guessing it must be a combination of the material the armor is made out of, plus lighting in the world being different than lighting in the hero panel. I’ve attached a screenshot to illustrate what I’m talking about.
There can be a huge difference in dye ‘vividness’ for lack of a better word, depending on what you dye. Even within the material categories (cloth, leather, and metal), the tier of the material can affect it too. My favourite dye for Tier 2 leather, for example, was Ancient Silver, but didn’t like it on Tier 3 leather and so on. I think this may be one reason there is such a great abundance of dye colours that look very similar in the dye window, but in actuality are quite different when ON armour.
Most common dyes are very cheap on the Trading Post so spend a few silver and get a palette of colours in the general shade you want, and then have fun trying them all out.
It’s a little frustrating actually that the same category of gear can dye differently. It means that the armor doesn’t always match when using the same color dye.
