It is possible to change my E-Mail adress from GW2 Account? My old one got stolen.

Wait, can’t you change it in account? That’s how most hackers lock you outside of your account I’ve heard.

Scratch that, you can only change your forum email address apparently, they haven’t added an account email change yet so yeah, contact support as suggested above.

If you change your email for the forum it will change your account email too because they’re linked.

Edit: So apparently they’ve changed it slightly since I did it. You need to do it through the forum but you need to change your account email address, not the one for forum notifications. (It might also make you change your password first if you haven’t done it recently.)

Where can you change it? I click on My Account at the top and the only options I have are Edit Profile (which is really change password), Download Client, Security, and Link Accounts.

P.S. If you change your password, they don’t let you change it back to your old one. I tried that hoping the change of email form would be on the next page, but no luck.

My account is linked to my GW1 account, which may be the cause of the difficulty. But I submitted a support ticket weeks ago requesting an email change, and have yet to receive a reply.

Actually if You think about it it’s not stupid.

Cause it prevents You from selling GW2 account.

If anyone Could change thiers e-mail at any point, Anet wouldn’t earn any money – due to many ppl leaving because of bugs etc. and selling thier accounts to those who want to try thier game.

In this case You would simply sell account and get “cash back” not giving anet a penny – cause other person wouldn’t buy new copy od GW2.

Every single corporation that does MMO’s Do this kind of trick – email change from support team, to prevent account selling options.

Blizzard for WoW on the other hand does not go with that policy cause they simply don’t care.
For them it’s more profitable to acclow player change thier info whenever they want and “sell” thier account ( even if policy says You can’t ) because new player who bought it will still play & pay for game ( monthly subs ).

Also Im playing MMo’s for like 7-8 years now. And I’ve never been hacked or my account never been compromised. So I have no idea What things You’d have to do to make it happen. Seriously

Mabe the reason is that the person that steals your account doesnt get to change it either.Caus eif your account is stolen the hacker would have that option too.

You can change it always by contacting support. It might be needed to provide proof of ownership.
