First timer question.

So I’ve been playing Guild Wars 2 for the last three days, and I am enjoying it a lot better than other mmos I’ve played so far.

Anyways, I am currently lvl 17 ranger. I noticed the trait is still locked. I googled it, and from what I understand you either pay 10 silvers or complete selected quests, listed here

Well which method is easiest to do besides paying in-game money for it?

Play the game. Some will be annoying to get, some are absolutely not going to be used by you. If you don’t have the traits you want by 80 go back and see if you want to get them by doing the activity or if you would prefer to pay for them. You will not be forced out of activities because you don’t have a specific trait (with the exception of speed run dungeons and that is a whole different mindset anyway).

You need all of them. Click a trait in-game, you’ll see a spyglass – it will show you where to go. There’s one feat you need to complete for each.

At level 17 you can just ignore traits. You don’t get a trait point until level 30 and then you won’t be able to set any trait until level 36.

No amount of paying will get you the traits at lv17. Even if you unlocked them now you still can’t use them until at least level 36.

If this is really your first char, i suggest you to do the quest instead buying it. Most of them will require a bit of exploration, and opening the map, which i think something every new player should do. Exploring tyria is one of the best way to enjoy the game, and actually a small progress towards your legendary wpn (if you ever plan to make it)

You don’t need to unlock all of them at once. Just pick one or two traits that you think are useful. Once you reach lvl 80, unlocking the rest of the traits is quite easy, cos you’ll be making a lot of gold from dungeons and events.

Also if i can be honest, as a player who already has 3k++ hours gameplay, i myself only use 20ish traits from the 65 available traits in each class. So you really don’t need to worry abt unlocking all of them quickly. Ofc it’s nice to have all of them, but in reality, you usually stick with only one to three builds.
