Q:

So I know that T6 dust salvages from Ectos. But is it a rare salvage in like normally you get T5 dust with a rare chance at a T6 dust? Or is it just straight T6 dust? Also, which salvage kit works best?

A:

just made a post about this… copypasta!

So, what I’m reading is:
BSK = 1.6 dust/ecto
MSK = 2 dust/ecto
BLSK = 2 dust/ecto

let’s assume ectos costs 20s and gems cost 3.1g
Basic SK = (20 + 0.0352) / 1.6 = you pay 12s52c per dust
Master SK = (20 + 0.6144) / 2 = you pay 10s31c per dust
Mystic SK = (20 + 1.77896) / 2 = you pay 10s89c per dust
BLSK = (20 + 37.2) / 2 = you pay 28s60c per dust

Master SK is clearly the most profitable (unless you get BLSK for free). And since dust currently sells for 13s, you can actually sell it at a 74c profit after TP tax. That won’t last long.

Alright cool! I didn’t know if the numbers were really any significant difference between salvage kits. Thanks!

based on other people’s testing, Master, Mystic, and BLSK all appear to be about the same, while Basic is significantly less. I haven’t seen Crude or the intermediate kits tested, though I don’t have high hopes they will prove to be more cost-effective.

Hmmm. I wonder how fine salvage kits do. Since they can be bought with karma, making them essentially free, you save the price of the master kit right there. A small savings but maybe enough to offset some lesser amount of dust produced.

I didn’t know you could get Fine SK with karma… worth looking into.

(20 + 0) / x = 10s31c
x = 1.9398

So, if Fine SK gives more than 1.9398 dust per ecto, that is more profitable than MSK. Maybe yes, maybe no, but I don’t have high hopes. MSK are just so cheap compared to ecto and dust.

Yah. Fine salvage kits can be bought with karma from some of the cultural weapon sellers. The Charr in Black Citadel and human in Divinities Reach for sure. I use fine for general salvaging.

Last three times I mass converted with Master kits I got a little under 1.8:1, that’s on over 200 ectos. I think some people’s luck in small batches are leading them to the wrong conclusion that Master kits ares a sure 2:1 thing.
