So yeah, as title stated, currently whats the most effective way to get ectos? I know they cant be farmed directly so what is there to do that can give me a reasonable amount of exotics/rares to salvage? I’m working for my legendary – specifically Mystic Clovers and I just don’t have any ectos. Sure I can just buy them from the TP but they’re like 40silver each, i’d rather keep that money for cores/lodestones. Any suggestions?

Dynamic event is the top one but its capped. so use gw2stuff.com do all events everyday.
Second is high lvl dungeon with fast path such as cof p1, COE, HOTW. they give good amount of gold and token for first and second run. you can trade token into rare items and salvage them.
Third is crafting, Do champ chain or buy cheap material then craft high lvl rare items and salvage. make sure the cost isnt higher than buy from TP.

But as a real answer: I did the Boss Event Farm (GOLEM,kitten,CoJ,…) They give you 2-4 Rares in general per event. Didn’t do it lately(after nerf) + you can only get the extra reward once a day, though.

Any rare armor, weapon or trinket over level 68 can give you an ecto. On average it’s around 0.9 per if you use a master/mystic salvage kit.

I look for bargins on the TP of those items, putting bids in for them.

Doing the world boss train. Gives a lot of rares that can be salvaged.

Running dungeons to get gold to buy a few. Then use the dungeon tokens to buy rares (level 68+) to salvage for globs.

Those are the two most reliable ways.

Another vote for world boss train. My server does this every day at reset. In ~2 hrs I will get enough rares to salvage out on avg 20-25 ectos. Not bad for time spent. Of course, RNG being what it is, this is an average, not a guarantee. I needed 500 ecto for my legendary… had that in about 3 weeks doing Frostgorge champ train and world boss train.
