Ive played mesmer and played with an ele and they look so f***ing awesome and i dont know which one to pick comment what one u think

Ele if you want to improve or are good
Mesmer if you want to be carried by easy mode AI

You’ve got multiple character slots, so why not both?

If you make one you can take them into the mists and mess about with all the traits and and weapon skills to see how you like their playstyle.

Ele if you want to have cool skills but have to put in way more effort to do what other classes do easily.

Mesmer if you like being able to create clones and be tricky and all over the place while you demolish someone

Pretty much this, mesmer is faceroll class, ele is not.

Ele-mesmer comparison:
Heavily telegraphed-stealth from multiple sources.
lowest base hp- reasonable base hp
no intricate damage mitigation system-clones, stealth, weapon skill teleports.
barely passable accessibility to conditions – Mesmer can use any condition.
No retaliation, no aegis-is able to get any boon but not all as effectively.

Elementalist has low base dmg per skill but alot of the elementalist skills are instant but with high cooldowns requiring alot of atunement swapping and thus being forced to trait into arcana. Plus going full on dps doesn’t work for water atunement so aka y’r only 3/4 viable as a dps.

Mesmer can fully spec for dps without losing survivability thanks to the above mentioned reasons and nearly all of the base damage for its weapon skills are either on par or better than those of the elementalist without needing to press a gazilion buttons to be able to do anything.

conclusion:
choose elementalist because its fun.

Ele is the highest skill class, mes is both the second highest skilled class and one of the lowest, depending on how you build it.
Shatter mesmer can be an amazing build in the right hands, while PU phantasm mesmers tend to be of the “press x to win” variety. For an example of the truly godly skilled builds, check some of osicat’s videos. She (I think it’s she) made me love mesmers by showing off what a truly skilled player can do.
Pick whatever feels better to you. People can’t really judge you for playing either (unless you decide on a PU phantasm troll spec), and I play both myself because, as you said, they’re kittening awesome.
