Q:

Hi all!
I just got my thief to 80, and learned a lot on the game abaut instances and stuff, but still didnt had the chance to do some fractals actually.
It seems a big frightening.
I been playing support but “tank like” builds seem fun, trough i keep hearing some classes are way better for some roles then others.
Some guy just told me nothing can tank fractals above 30 like an Engineer or Guardian….

Is that true?
You think Warrior or Ele can do the same?
I want to roll an alt right now, but not suce whitch. Ele seems to have more support, but the class lacks mobility and swift spells to my taste. Is it a viable tank in pve instances at all? (thief was quite decent, but most of it was the mobility it had)
Why is Guardian or Engi a better tank then any other at all btw?
I like Warr but seems plain boring araund 30 right now. It has support builds? And can tank? (trough i see many tanky builds and skills) Seems to lack self perservation on long run.

My friend plays guardian so i dont want to play that for sure. (trough might could be a solution…even if i want to switch to long range somethimes to)

Anyone can help me on this topic? Or give some detailed info on these things?

Bunker specc’d eles can be nice tanks. Don’t know about fractals specifically, but especially with water traits they regen health whenever attuned to water. They don’t do well standing in one spot, but they can keep the enemy in roughly the same location.

Also, ele is usually considered a very mobile and swift class. Air traits, signet of air for swiftness. All of the weapon skill sets include skills that move you through combat, dagger/dagger is the most mobile but dagger/focus works and has much better defense.

I’ve got a support-heavy ele. I think it is a very good class, helping the team out very much. Here’s my build, although you could do some other builds that are pretty supportive, such as an aura build.

I’m wearing an apothecary/cleric mix, which is healing power, toughness, and condition damage/power. I am wearing dwayna runes, which further increases my healing power and the 6th power gives me the ability to give 5 seconds of regeneration to allies near me when I use my main healing skill.

I am maxed in earth (toughness/condition trait line) and I have the grandmaster trait which allows you to keep the passive effect of a signet after activating it. Also, I have the trait to allow signets to recharge faster. For my healing skill, I use the healing signet, which is the fastest recharge (even faster with the trait). I gain health every time I cast a spell (that’s the passive effect) and when I activate it I keep the passive effect due to the trait. This allows me to heal my team very often using just my base heal alone.

I have the trait which grants boons to yourself and nearby allies when swapping elements. This means that when I swap to water, it heals everyone around me, as well as myself. I can also give everyone protection from switching to earth.

I have the trait that causes something to happen at the end of your dodge roll. When you are attuned to water, you cause a “cleansing wave” at the end of your roll. This clears 1 condition (the condition farthest to the right) and heals a decent amount. I also like the dodge roll effect from the earth dodge, which causes a blast finisher that can be very useful to combo with your own combo fields (great to use after water or before fire).

I have 10 points in water (the healing/vitality trait line), which grants a constant regeneration effect to any ally around you while you are attuned to water.

Finally, my actual skills. I use the staff, which is mainly personal preference. All the weapons are good in their own ways, but if you’re going to use this build you should either use staff or dagger/dagger. You can heal everyone who is around the enemy you are autoattacking.
-The autoattack has a splash radius that heals people standing in it for a minor amount.
-The 3 skill is a medium healing spell that heals a decent amount and disappears quickly.
-The 5 skill is the big one. First, it cures 1 condition when you stand in it. It then gives you a regeneration effect from standing in it, and if you are in it the whole time, the regeneration ends up healing about 5k health.

After all that, you could easily heal yourself from the brink of death up to full health. I absolutely love this build and it is so satisfying to use.

If anyone wants to know the specifics of my build, such as traits, exact numbers of how much healing/damage I do, and anything else, you can go ahead and send me mail or a whisper in-game. My in game name is: Passos
