Let me preface this by saying that I have only just hit level 20 and while I’ve [played through some of the Betas and been on since Headstart Access, I haven’t actually much time to play.

That being said…

My impression of the Elementalist class was that it encouraged switching between attunements, as opposed to being stuck in one element like the original Guild Wars. Now that I’ve been messing with the traits, I’ve noticed that the effects only apply when you’re attuned to each element (except for Arcane).

So is it better to place a lot of trait points into one element and only play that element or are those bonus effects not enough to encourage sticking to one element?

I built up my Fire first for strong attacks, after that I started on Water for healing and switch to that during battle to help heals mates. then either wait for fire to become available again or switch to air until it does. when exploring I always use air to run swiftly. If I hit a battle on the way…out comes the fire.
