Elementalist downed state... why?
Probably something to do with the fact they have mist form…
Any1 know why they decided to make this decision?
The same reason they decided to give stealth and teleport to thief and mesmer in downed state, or a self instant rez that lets you use your invulnerability skill as a warrior
To add that extra fun everyone wants ! You know, having to kill someone 2 or 3 times before he is really dead ! Removing the possibility to ever do some 1v2 or defend a base alone, no matter how skilled you are ! right ? RIGHT ??
..
You can finish off an elementalist before you can use mist form. It’s annoying
The thief can teleport 75% the distance an elementalist can travel during mist form while downed. The thief can use the ability immiediately upon being downed, elementalist must wait 10 seconds. The thief’s ability is recharged almost as soon as the elementalist can use downed mist form the 1st time.
Elementalist are more frail then thieves.
Sense, this does not make (unless the devs just hates elementalists).
Why they be hatin’ on elementalist?
It is just how they made it.
They haven’t had much time to look into the classes yet, but if you keep bringing this up, they will eventually have to give it another look.
That being said, I don’t mind mist form so much, as it comes in handy as long as they don’t immediately begin to do the “FINISH THEM” move.
It’s not a big deal (at least not to me I guess). It’s true though, that the downed state for elementalists is pretty much an immediate death sentence in PvP, since they can finish you off before you can do anything (other than hold them with your second skill if they’re far away). I think shaving off a few seconds for mist form would help quite a bit.

Mist form used in downed state eats kitten and doest do anything other than delay the inevitable. Wow, I can float away for 3 secs at a snails pace and flop back to the ground waiting to die.
I agree with all. I am the favorite target in sPVP due to this but im pretty sure Aranet will change this soon!
They still have a lot of bugs to sort out, so I’m sure once they’re done with those, the next step is balancing classes.
Ive been able to rez myself so many times because of mist form but all pve. I actually think its overpowered a bit for pve but maybe not for pvp.

It’s not really OP in PVE at all. :|
You turn into a slow ball of mist while the mob still chases you.
When mist form ends, you go back into the downed state hoping that the mob already reset.
Plus if the mob is using a channeling skill, you still get hit in mist form.
Sucks.
Still love the game though.. :o
I do solo PvE and mist form does not do anything for me unless there’s someone there to take aggro away from me. Or the mist form allows me to jump off something where the mobs cannot follow. Also waiting for mist form to charge up really is annoying. I’m sitting there just waiting to be killed using everything else that I have. I love playing an Elementalist cause they are squishy. But sometimes I think they are too squishy.

No matter how badly a business caters to the dumb crowd and waters down the game. There is always hope! ALWAYS:

But yeah, how downed state is currently implemented does remove a lot of fun from the game, I will not argue against that.

haha In mist form, I tried to jump down a little hill (just knowing I was going to make it out alive) only to free fall into another set of monsters. Needless to say, they weren’t taking prisoners that day.
I think rangers have it the worst. Yes we have a single target thunder bolt? but it has a large cool down on it, that is really just meant to add one second to the inevitable.
We have no invisibility or teleport of any kind, so we are insta gibbed by auto kills. All we have is a pet revive that sends your pet over to heal you.. extremely slowly I might add. We are talking about 8 regen a second, which is no where near enough to over power incoming damage.
On top of that, it has like a good 20 second charge time on it. Downed abilities really need reworked, as well as giving the insta kill ability a cool down. If you have a cool down on your interrupt, why not have on on the insta kill?

Mist form has probably only saved me 1/4 times I get into ‘Fight for your life’ stance. pretty worthless to me. Enemy still has you locked on.
Sorry to the GW2 fanboys, but in TOR, as a Operative/assassin, if I was low on health, I’d pop my quick stun…get out of combat, then re-enter prepared for a counter attack.

Elementalists are extremely fragile.
Whether alive or dead, we’re the easiest class to take down. If, of course, you can actually apply your damage.

Something has to be given to us Elementalists to make us more balanced. At least give us some more endurance/defense rating.

I laugh at someone who play as Elementalist and find this class fragile. You guys just don’t know how to play as it. I’ve faced a lot of Eles at tourneys and sPvP and I can say: Elementalists are a pain in the neck to kill. They have that invulnerable form plus healing state and a lot of CC’s. Practise more.

You do know that the warriors self rez is temporary and once it ends (15 seconds) the warrior is defeated (not downed, but defeated), don’t you?

You can’t say that if you havn’t played elementalist.
Elem is the worst class of all by very very far.
They are the easiest class to kill because they have no stealth, only mist form as a good defensive ability (even then it suck hard), they have the lowest damage of all classes, all their abilities are either delayed, slow moving missiles or AoE (Most of the AoE are also all delayed) only fast cast and missiles are the air attunement one and they barely tickle in a full DPS build. They only have 2 roots (3 if specced deeply in the most worthless tree and it’s only 1 second root). 1 on a massive cooldown and another one on the most useless weapon. They are so easy to dodge a baby with no arms can dodge their spells.
Needless to say, after playing about 165 hours on my elementalist in both PvE, sPvP and WvWvW (And that doesn’t include past BWs). I can say I know what I’m talking about when I say it’s utter crap. PvE wise it can handle itself but PvP wise it’s a total waste to even try to play one.
some of these guys are trolling i pvp regularly on mine and can tell you they are super fragile , all glass and no cannon . i spend more time in my water spec in full defensive and healing because our dps is so sub par compared to my warrior or ranger. The downed state is the least of our problems trust me. Ive tried just about every build out there and ended up just using mine as total support even at level 60 as the class just sucks period unless you are safely behind a keep wall and aoeing for 1500 damage ……
Elementalists for the most part are squishy. haveing done a bit of Spvp and tournys, the only way to be semi-survivable is the full heal/support build. In this build, you are actualy quite difficult to down. However, since you fully commit to healing, you have little damage output. Any kind of damage dealing setup on the ele lacks true survivability.
Basicly, you can be full support (Not everyone wants to) Or you can spend quite a bit of time dead.

You know this is a 15 second cool down that starts ticking once you are downed yes? If you get on top of the warrior fast enough, even if they manage a hammer interrupt ( which is highly telegraphed so just dodge it) you still have enough time to get a finisher off if you aren’t messing around with your “staff”. It also only rezes them with around 40% and doesn’t always rally them if they get a kill during it without a trait.
Don’t spread misinformation around, thanks.
And this isn’t to say elements list downed state abities are fine, because they aren’t.
Good elementalists are really strong, average elementalists are kill fodder. There is a lot of scope for builds esp for ele, try playing around with it a bit more.
BTW I like that there is at least a couple of classes I can kill in downed state relatively easily. Ranger and ele seem the easiest. Warrior if you can get to them quickly, guardian and necro you have to time the knockback and fear, but seem to go down fast after that.
Mesmer can be a pain-you have to note that the illusionary downed mesmer will appear slighlty before the real mesmer reappears from stealth, so if you notice that and get to them quick its not too bad.
Thief has about three moves depending on spec, but when they go invisible you just have to auto attck the area and hope to kill them, then down them fast before teleport comes off cd again.
At any rate I think downstate abilities should be looked at in terms of class balance. By that I mean, strong downstate abilities are very powerful in pvp so should be taken into consideration when looking at the overall power of a class.
If’ we’re lucky enough to be near water we can usually mist towards it and hope that whatever’s attacking us can’t swim so we could recover.

’em legendary elementalists. Legendary as in “everyone heard about them from friends, but no one has ever seen them personally”.
Reality is, if you see elementalist in PvP against you right now, you know enemy team has one extremely weak character who either has no damage, is fairly hard to kill and is heal/CC only or has no survivability and mediocre damage.
On topic, fun detail about mist form: if you get to use it, it will also use one of your “downed state charges”. Game apparently counts mist form as “rallying” and it expiring as “being downed”.
Pretty hilarious.
Vapor Form does not works for PvE, outside of rare exceptions, and for that reason, the second immobilize skill isn’t that worth it, also outside of rare exceptions. The devs should look that out.
IMO, enemies’ AI should stop chasing you down while in vapor form, and only come back after you appeared back (like stealth). If so, it would actually make both vapor form and the immobilize skill useful for PvE. As long as enemies don’t regenerate their health back and came back to you fully healed…

When a rogue cowboy with healing and a wookie or cool British accent spies can’t even save a game you know it’s bad. SWTOR classes were too homogenized (Agent did have a good story though) and was too much of a corridor. I actually liked Ord Mantell and Hoth, but when you play alts and say, “ugh, not this planet again!” for most of the planets and tire of doing dailies you know it’s time to move on.
Though yeah, mist form is mostly worthless unless you can manage to get into deep enough water where you have to swim to the surface, and even then it’s situational and may draw aggro from water mobs.

I say this because I have played against very powerful and skilled elementalists in sPvP. I also noticed that some are exceedingly weak. You need to think about your build more if you think elementalists are too weak or pick an easier class like thief.
The elementalists I have encountered in spvp that are good are nigh unstoppable.

Actually it also gives u 50% hp back if I’m not wrong, and u can move in a place where the enemy can’t finish you….but yes….10 seconds are too many, please reduce it.

Just for the record usually I watch this guy who pvp with elementalist and seems to be really good.

On my elementalist I usually drop radiation field if there’s a huge pack (or even just two who have a credible chance of killing me) of mobs and afflict them with burning as DoTs are great when you’re downed.

Dont go out alone? That 3 seconds could be the time it takes to be rescued.

I have saved myself SO many times using mist form. In PvE you can get away from a mob that is attacking you and often it will attack someone else if there are other players around or it will just run away and you can heal yourself back up. In dungeons and WvW it’s great to get out of a bad area to somewhere that it’s easier for others to pick you up. In sPvP if you can get it off you can sometimes get somewhere safe and heal yourself up while the enemies are distracted fighting your friends.
