Hey guys… so I want to make a mage class but I can’t really decide between mesmer and elementalist…

I’m not planning on PVPing at all… I’ve played since release, never done PVP, never will, don’t care about it…

My gameplay goal is to play PvE, do dungeons and probably a lot more WvW

I currently have thief and warrior but want a mage… they are both glass cannon for the most part but I know how to dodge and keep myself away from damage so I definitely don’t want to go tanky…

Honestly, I want to use this as an alternative to my P/P thief for WvW… I like being glassy, staying in a zerg, but ever since I re-traited my warrior to CoF runner instead of rifle warrior, I really really miss 1200 range glass nuker gameplay that I had with my rifle warrior… I love my thief but I just really want 1200 range

this brings me to my question… I want to level ele or mesmer… I played both till 10-11 and I seem to like ele more so far because mesmer just feels incredibly slow to start… but mesmers seem to be a little higher in demand end-game… so… who is more fun to play for dungeons and WvW in the end game? ele or mesmer? please keep in mind that I like staying at max range and doing max dmg…

TL;DR: I wanna do dungeons and WvW… ele seems to be way more fun for the first 10 levels or so than mesmer but I hear mesmers are better at 80… basically I really want to get a level 80 mesmer but they are just so boring to level right now… ele seems to be a more fun gameplay at this point…

Look into ‘d/d bunker’ elementalist for WvW. They unleash some decent damage and have good survivability and mobility. Perfect for WvW and PvE setting, haven’t used extensively in dungeons.
Make sure to have a staff handy. Switching to ranged attacks will solve most problems, such as when you’re in a keep.

For Mesmer’s most people look at Glamour builds for WvW, you can also look up Shatter builds to. Probably depends if you’re more interested in dueling or team support.
