If you get the following email, do not click the link. I just received this today, thought I’d warn players.

Typing the link will get you a 404 page on guildwars2.com so no worries, it’s a hidden link that sends you to a phishing site.

Very true, but I suppose if English is not your native language people might fall for it.

Jumping puzzles, love them or hate them, I hate them. Thread killer.

though possible, this is typically not the case. scammers act stupid on purpose, to attract the stupid people, so that they only have to spend their time following up on the scam with someone who is likely to fall for it.
It’s not always easy being a scammer: http://www.419eater.com/ (a group of volunteers that spend part of their time wasting scammers’ time)

I’m not sure how this relates to phishing, as they have a server that just collects emails/passwords. maybe it’s to reduce the number of these sort of responses: email=stupidscammer@getalife.com, password=ihopeyoudie ? imagine getting 10,000 of these and having to sift through and try them to find the real ones.

Its not always the stupied people they prey on, but it is mostly them. alot of us take for granted how easy it is to be tricked at a younger age. imagine your 10 years old and having the time of your life and suddenly get this email, you panic a little and reply without thinking about who is really at the other end. All because of a childs instincts to wanna hide anything they did wrong from others.

We all know better because we’re familar with these kinda attacks. Its the gullible and inexperienced to fall for these traps.

Thanks for the warning. There are people that usually don’t read enough that will fall for this so thanks for putting this information out for all to see.
