Thanks for the list. However it contains ALL the map sections. Going through all of them and checking if I have them unlocked or not is quite a hassle. If it’s possible I’d like a list with ONLY the empty map sections.
Thanks though!
Closest thing I know of is this. http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Explorer#Commonly_missed_areas
Have you gone into your achievements to see how many areas of each region you’re missing? That’d probably be a good way to start. And then pick one region to work on at a time.
All the maps are basically rectangular and with very few exceptions have either open sea or some type of barrier along their edge.
So one way to spot the places you’re missing is to look at the edge of each map in the region where you’re missing some places, looking for anywhere the edge suddenly curves inward. Then zoom in and see if you can see a mountain range or other barrier running all the way along there, or if it looks like you could keep walking past the edge of the area you’ve uncovered.
The wiki page for each map also includes a picture of the fully explored map, so you could use that to compare and check for places you’ve missed.
But here’s a few from memory which are easy to miss:
- The Sea of Elon in the south east corner of Straights of Devastation,
- Malchor’s Fingers on the north edge of Malchor’s Leap
- Griffonrook Run in Loronar’s pass – about 3/4 of the way down on the west side, just below Stonescatter Wash and Moriarity's Hold, it’s a jumping puzzle and the entrance is hidden so I recommend using a guide to find it. You don’t need to complete the puzzle to get the map area, just reach the entrance.
- Proxemics Lab in north west Bisban Wildlands and Langmar Estate in south west Plains of Ashfod – both are guild puzzles but discovering the area counts towards explorer.

Try putting your content guide pointer (in options) to Hide Events and Personal Story. Then waypoint into each map and see if the pointer shows that you have undiscovered areas on that map. It will point towards undiscovered areas and there is an icon that looks like (to me) someone climbing a hill.

This helped! Thank you so much!
Just note that on a character of mine that has all sections explored, the content direction system still points to an unreachable ‘undiscovered’ area in certain zones, this are probably bits from Guild puzzles and they aren’t included (as I already have the achievement).
