End Game?
To give an example of end-game in another game; WoW end-game was raiding 4 hours twice a week for a chance at an upgrade and spending the rest of the time standing on a mailbox in town.
Fractals could, currently, be considered GW2’s end-game since they scale and people run them for similar reasons (loot, upgrades).
I think you’ll find most people play GW2 a lot more casually than other MMOs and so you won’t necessarily get the same answer from many people. You simply login and do what you like until you’re done and then logout.
Thank you Mars, i suppose that makes sense. You hit the nail on the head, i raided in WoW for years, and SWTOR for a while as well. Getting used to this is a whole new experience. I’m just afraid that i will lose interest.
I lose interest every night… and then find it again either the next day or the day after.
It is… different… but I’m getting use to it. There isn’t a lot of direction like you find in other games where there is usually one activity that is defined as the end-game.
I enjoy running low level fractals and dungeons quite a bit, I also enjoy leveling alts and trying different specs. It’s more than enough to keep me busy.
I’m hoping that the upcoming changes will make WvW and sPvP a bit more fun because they are fun, just not what keeps my interest for various reasons.
If you’re getting bored or feel burnt out and don’t want to alt, try new specs, or try other aspects of the game then by all means take a break. There’s no subscription burning and so no pressure to play every day in order to get your money’s worth. There’s no reason to force yourself to play when you’d rather watch a football game.

Im getting a bit the same. I use to like wpvp and arenas in other games. Currently looking for a TPvP guild and WvW is just 2 zergs and gets boring very quick.
If u like doing pve and want to test yourself Arah in the lvl 80 zone is pretty tough. I tried path 4 and is a bit of fun

As someone that has played the original Guild Wars for over 5 years, with a few breaks in between, I find it easy to stick with the game when you give yourself some goals and play with other people you enjoy playing with. Both the original GW and GW2 have kept me interested in a similar fashion.
At the start, I played a lot because everything is brand new and exciting, but that eventually fades away like most other games. However, the thing that draws me back, aside from their content updates, is that I have a goal that I want to achieve and/or I want to play because I enjoy the company of the friends that I play with.
I feel endgame PvE generally splits into 4 distinct categories: dungeon running, achievement hunting, open world farming, and/or character replay. Some combination of this should help you achieve most of your endgame PvE goals and/or provide your daily PvE entertainment.
While I have my own personal goals such as obtaining a legendary, getting some achievements, and getting a fractal capacitor (ascended), I really like spending time with my dungeon team when we farm money and dungeon tokens. Aside from generating income, it helps us develop our team skills because sometimes we switch professions to learn a new perspective, change strategy to improve efficiency, or we help other people do dungeons we don’t normally do. If it wasn’t for them, I wouldn’t be proudly wearing my well-earned dungeon master title. Without something like my team, solo play, and sometimes PuG grouping, would get boring really fast. It’s really nice to log in and just ask any of the regulars if they want to do some stuff together. The team is ready in seconds, if not minutes, and I get a whole night’s worth of quality game time before the next day of real life responsibilities.
I think endgame is doing what you enjoy the most about GW2 whenever you log on. Like others have said, if you’re burnt out on your options, you don’t need to feel guilty when you take a break, especially when the game could be different when you come back. I’ve taken a half year break from GW1 and found special mini expansion storylines when I came back.
Aside from all of that, do you ever feel yourself wanting to do a raid like experience? Going from wow, to here, makes me feel like something is missing. I understand all of the things that can be done at the end of the game. But is it epic enough? Your character builds this impressive story line to be a great hero, but in then end, were you satisfied with the outcome? I would like to see a bunch of heroes fight a massive, multi-part battle against each elder dragon. Because if my character is a hero, i want a heroes ending….? I’m not sure if that makes sense, and perhaps once i get to the end of the game (I am level 42, haven’t had enough time to hit 80) maybe it will all make sense. But so far, i am having a blast. there are a few concepts from GW 1 that i wish they would bring back. (being able to unlock more weapon skills being #1) but all in all, it is far more entertaining than wow even was at the very beginning.
Thank you all for listening/reading my random thoughts. Sorry if i ramble on.
