End game item diversity
Even after nerfing zerkers it’ll probably remain the meta in PvE because ArenaNet hasn’t done anything about the encounters that people faceroll with zerk gear. Same encounters + 10% less damage or so = lengthier fights, more chances to muck it up.
Until something is done about the encounters and the comparatively atrocious damage outputs of full condition groups versus full zerk groups, the DPS meta isn’t going to shift anywhere.

There are 21 different stat combinations Level 80 gear can have, and obviously there are many ways to combine them. But a lot of them don’t get talked about much. Some are not really very useful, or at least not very popular and some simply don’t need much discussing because they’re fairly self-explanatory.
Lots of people ask about Celestial gear because it’s quite popular but usually harder to find/make than other combinations, and because it’s used alongside other combinations in a lot of builds.
Beserker gets talked about a lot because it’s the most popular for PvE and because recently Anet have announced plans to try and change that, which has a lot of people worried.
“Life’s a journey, not a destination.”
Quite frankly, there’s really no need to worry. If people genuinely have the skill to run in zerker gear and not die, a 10% reduction in critical damage isn’t going to do much because of damage multipliers like that of Scholar runes and certain traits. It’s just a small bump in the road to slow you down, not a brick wall that’ll make you crash.
But if you simply like big numbers then I have no argument.

Oh so I was wrong! I thought zerker is a specific armor but actualy it’s just a pefix/suffix?
Now I’m lost.. Why no talk about the actual armor?
Everybody pretty much wears T3 cultural armors because they look good XD~

There are simply too many different sets that share attributes, like CoF armor sets which can come in Berserker, Carrion or Rampager’s stats. Arah armor can come in Berserker, Knight’s or Rabid, as examples.
Edit: Vote T3 cultural!
“Memories are nice, but that’s all they are.”
Ohhh! Thats what I originaly meant- how much armor sets/looks for End game are out there?
There are at least 5 different looks for each of the 3 types (light, medium and heavy) which are only available at level 80. However there are also numerous looks which can be obtained earlier in the game and can then be transmuted so that you can combine the look you want with the stats you want. Also some of the armors do look slightly different on different races and genders.
I am sure that someone will link one of the other sites, but a good place to start is in the wiki which you can access from the top of this page. The ‘quick links’ option will then take you to a page listing all the professions and from there you can go to the galleries which show a lot of the armor options available for each combination of class, race and gender, and of cause you can mix and match from the sets for your own unique look.
Ooops, sorry I just assumed you were talking about stat combinations.
Ok, starting over.
I think this has been covered now but there are 2 different ways people might refer to an armor set: the skin (looks) or the stats.
Stats
When talking about stats they will usually use the name given to the prefix as a short-hand, even though an armor set with those stats often won’t have the prefix in it’s name. Crafted armor does, because there are many sets with the same skin (and therefore name) but different stats, but for example dungeon armor simply shows the skin name. But the prefix names are useful because even if you don’t know exactly what it does it can give you an idea. For example ‘Beserkers’ implies raging around smashing things, whereas ‘Clerics’ implies healing and protection and ‘Rabid’ implies deadly infection.
Some people might instead use an abbreviation for the stats, for example Soldiers stats are also known as PVT which is short for Power, Vitality and Toughness, the 3 stats it gives. But that’s less common.
Skins
The other way they might talk about it is discussing the skins, which is a bit more confusing because there’s even less consistency(!)
Each set does have a specific name, but sometimes people will use the method of acquisition instead, for example people might talk about karma armor (bought with karma) or CoE armor (the set from the Crucible of Eternity dungeon) or gem store armor (any skin sold in the gem store) and some of those names can refer to multiple sets (for example there are 9 different skins for crafted armor, which all get called crafted). Unless they specify however you can assume they meant the highest tier/level set.
Finally, to actually answer your question there’s less talk about what skins people like because it’s entirely personal choice. Thanks to Transmutation Stones and Transmutation Crystals you can combine any skin you like with any stats so there’s no need to compromise and you can make your armor look however you want.
Some people will just pick a set they like and stick with it, some people will get Tier 3 cultural armor or another expensive/hard to get set to show that they were able to afford it (which is not to say that’s the only reason people wear those sets, many of them do look good too). Some people will mix and match from all kinds of different places. But they usually just decide for themselves what looks good rather than asking for advice.
However you will sometimes get topics about it. Usually someone asking what a particular piece is, what would go with their current outfit, what dyes would look best, and every so often raging that a new set they really like is in the gem store, or something’s too expensive or hard to get or whatever.
You can see what different armor sets look like on the wiki: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Armor
Just pick your race, gender and armor category from the table on the right and you’ll get a gallery of all the different sets.

I should also mention, when talking about weapons and trinkets the same applies for stats, people will use the prefix name to refer to the stat combination.
No one really talks about the look or name of trinkets because they don’t show up on your character so it doesn’t really matter. Sometimes people have a preference for specific ones (for example I want the Triforge Amulet because I’m a Zelda fan) but again that will be a personal thing.
With weapons, just like armor, you can use Transmutation Stones or Crystals to combine the skin with any set of stats, so it’s completely personal choice which one you get. It’s also kind of confusing because very few are part of a set so it’s harder to discuss them without everyone providing pictures. Although as you go along you’ll get to know the names of some of the more popular ones like the Legendaries and their Precursors.
And of course if you’re not sure about anything you can always check the wiki, or ask.

In the main discussion forum there is a thread on Post a Pic of Your Mix and Match. You can scan through that to see screens of many individualized outfits achieved through mixing pieces from various sets.
Amazing..Im amazed you went out to lend such a helpful hand, Danikat. I take off my imaginary hat for you, man.
Your info cleared ALOT about gear in general.. I just thought its like WoW where there are special sets, and looks and stats are talked as one.
Again, thanks alot =D
Pretty sure Danikat’s a “she”.
You can also visit http://argos-soft.net/GW2/ArmorGallery/. It has a very nice collection of all the different armor skins in the game (I think it’s missing the gem store skins though) that you can compare side-by-side.
