Endgame grind better than exploring for alts?

I just wander how people level their alts. It appears to me the majority is doing it through dungeons and crafting. I usually level 1-2 characters simultaneously (so I level them slowly) and I noticed most areas are now totally deserted. I rarely see other players, at least not in the same amount as before.

I usually find myself soloing DEs just because there is no one else around. GW2 provides a good experience curve so no one needs to grind in order to gain levels. Just explore, do dungeons and events.

So why people do not enjoy exploring with alts and prefer grinding level 80 areas with 2 characters? Somehow I think that is the reason for the low population in lower lv areas.

Personally I do the same on my alts as I did on my main. That being get 100% world complete then finish the storyline. Done 3 so far this way, well almost my 3rd just needs to finish the story now.

You are right tho about the maps being pretty empty. I put that down to most people not playing as much as when the game first came out. Or those that are playing are doing exactly as you said, farming in Orr/Frostsound or doing dungeons/fractals.

I think most people just find doing the hearts/maps again a chore or nothing new to see. For me it can get tedious/repetitive but I just think of it this way: “how can this class handle these same challenges?”. That usually that gets me through. Also I am getting very familiar with the maps/events so it’s great when someone asks for help in map chat or through friends lists/guild.

So my friend all I can say is keep on doing it “your” way and think of yourself as one of those early explorers. You just never know when A-net may send us back into these areas for other aspects of the game (perhaps this future treasure hunt game thingy) and having the experiance of the maps as you would might just come in handy.

I still explore on my alts. I’ve leveld two crafts, one 400, another one almost, on my 2 ‘main’ characters. Aaaaand I don’t plan on ever crafting again. ^^’
I also notice most maps are empty, some maps I avoid because I enjoyed them less than others, some I get to 100%.
But you’re not alone in leveling your alts by exploring and playing in the open world. It’s just that there’s few of them left it seems :’D

Hearts can be chore but they are still interesting somehow – you have to do various of things and always have a choice what to do I do not think DEs are chore though. At least they are fun to me Unfortunately this proves one point – if people are not forced to camp in one are for grinding XP they are not going to complete it for the gameplay itself.

I personally love DEs and like to wander around enjoying the artwork but sadly this is not the majority of people. I have 2 characters so I do different zones with both. I see their paths will cross at lv 65-70 but up to then I have explored totally different areas so it does not feel repetitive.

So people just love mindless grind again and again? This game offers much more in comparison to other MMOs.
I love doing lower level areas on non-capped character also because there is a feel of steady progression – leveling up every now and then, finding items etc. How it is more enjoyable endgame?
And yes I always do it my way

Map variety is also good here but not appreciated much it seems.

P.S. GW1 had areas populated everywhere but the reason was it was heavily instanced and you get max lv cap very early in the game so it is not a goal. Plus cooperative missions.

Personally I think the problem is most people go by the mentality that if they are not in a lvl 80+ area they are short changing themselves in the loot drop department.

Personally I PREFER to roam around in the lowest of areas such as queensdale on my main to farm. It might sound silly but in my magic find gear I get lvl 76-80 stuff now and then and today managed to grab 4 golds. Also selling all those logs/ores also add up!

Go figure I play for fun. :P
