Hi all,
New player here. Wondering if in your opinions I should be consuming these for the +magic find, or if I should be hoarding for crafting. I do plan on getting leatherworking and cooking up later on.

Consume them. They aren’t generally used in crafting (there’s the odd special case, like low level artificers can refine them, and I think some special items like Mawdrey need them but it’ll be easy to get hold of the essences later).

Edit: looking at the wiki that’s all they’re used for – see http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Essence_of_Luck. The wiki links what you can make with items, so is a good thing to check if you’re not sure what to do with something.

Right now my Luck is at 23% and I am level 42… I have used them since I first got them I think 100 luck points gives 1%…

You might want to keep some of them in stock for an easy (and free!) Monthly Masterwork Crafter achievement.

This number increases as your Magic Find grows, requiring more luck per +1% MF.

I used to when that was one of the tasks for Monthly Achievement but I don’t think it has been one for some time now.

Consume them when you get them, if you horde them you’ll get carpal tunnel rather quickly when you do decide to use them!
Master Work Crafter isn’t in the daily rotation anymore and the backpiece requires 4 exotic essence of lucks which is just a run around a map and salvage everything kinda thing so it’s not like you have to save up a million points worth to craft it.

If you have a few, there is no reason not to consume them.
If you have a lot, I recommend refining them with an artificer to higher tiers before consuming them as this will save you time and finger injuries. It’s a direct conversion for free, so nothing lost. (5 x +10 luck = 1 x +50 luck, 2 x +50 luck = 1 x +100 luck, …)
There is 1 recipe that calls for 5 of the +200 luck essences. I would recommend NOT saving any for this recipe. When you go to make this recipe, then go collect the luck. It’s a very special case. All other times, it will only help you to consume it.

It’s been there 2 months ago. Just wait a bit and it will eventually come back. I’ve been stacking essences of luck in my bank since the last one.

Save your hands! I use all the higher level lucks instantly, but save up the low level ones to refine with my Artificer. Not because I need to level the Artificer (500), but because it means I have to click only 20 or so times to consume a stack of 250 low level luck.
