Essential Before They Go
R.Scott Bakker
The problem with your theory is that NOBODY has ever said the Greatsaw will never be available again (tho I seriously doubt it will). None of the supposed “exclusive” items have never been identified by Anet as NEVER being made available again, so while “making hay” while you can is not a bad theory, you have no reason to be overly upset if you get stuck with an item that ends up being a big financial loss or no longer makes you that “special snowflake” you imagine yourself as.
Fate is just the weight of circumstances
That’s the way that lady luck dances
The other problem is it’s not nearly as simple as ‘this item is widely available now but will be rarer later on therefore it’s worth stockpiling’.
The Mini Captain Magnus was only available during February and it’s still the lowest priced mini, with thousands listed at any given time. The mini Holographic Risen Knight is just above it and that hasn’t been available in over a year and only dropped during an event which is pretty much confirmed to not be coming back (Dragon Bash).
This works with some items. For example I wish I’d bought a second mini Karka during the Lost Shores event because they jumped up after that and the price is insane now. But there’s a lot more than simply limited availability to determining when that will happen.
“Life’s a journey, not a destination.”
This is not a speculation tab, stockpiling items causes massive fluctuations in the market. I’m not going for any market altering with this form I’m simple trying to allow people to grab items that have a high possibility of becoming unique, before they become out of reach for most.

Never, EVER assume that previously exclusive stuff will never come back. If this year has shown us anything, it’s that ANet is more than happy to bring exclusive stuff back if there’s a demand for it. (Case in point, the Monocles, the Molten Jetpack, the reduced price sale for old Black Lion weapons etc.)
You can certainly try to speculate on these weapons, and you might actually make a tidy profit if circumstances favour you, but it is a big gamble.
Regardless of your intentions, these threads are magnets for speculators. Between McDuck players scooping up supplies to trickle back into the market and an army of have-nots scrambling to get the ‘must-have’ item while it’s cheap, expect anything listed here to essentially disappear and/or decuple in price.
Sorry, but in good faith, I can’t add recommendations. It will only fulfill the thing you’re trying to prevent.
