I just want to take my time. The one thing that’s impressed me is just how big the world is. I want to take advantage of it.

So, what are your must-see places? What are those things everyone should experience?

Get to level 70+ First, and then attempt to map-complete Tyria. Explore at your leisure. Everywhere is a place I could potentially enjoy. Because, all of it… fills me with DETERMINATION.

For things you could do on your own or at your own pace with a friend, I would recommend jumping puzzles.. lots of them have nice scenery. There are also alot of hidden things in the world ranging from conversation, triggering an event or hidden caves etc.

Harathi Hinterlands has 2 things in the southwestern part of the map that I think are quite nice, there is a temple with a secret not many people know about just north of the southwest corner. In the caverns in the southwest corner is also a small story to be told with a giant (it’s linked to an event aswell). There are quite alot of things similar to this in other maps. Without spoiling it, the best way would be to explore all the maps and try to look for unusual places. You could also use the wiki to find such places but that does take away part of the experience.

Oh and reading tombstones sometimes reveals some small bits of information or jokes, similar to the Fable games.

For cool places to see:

  • Garden of Dawn – North by the waterfall on the lower level of the Grove. Dive into the pool and swim under the wall
  • Anya Fairmind’s Strawberry Patch – Southwest of the town of Nolan (Diessa Plateau) in with all the gears. Listen to the char cubs. You need to run through a broken pipe.
  • Chaos Crystal Cavern – Iron Marches jumping puzzle
  • Hidden Garden – Mount Maelstrom jumping puzzle
  • Cat room – Borderlands jumping puzzle (wvw)
  • Any of the mini dungeons

Go see the turkey family and the psudo/not really implemented jumping puzzle area at the end of AC path 1 or 3.

As your first character, I would definitely recommend just taking your time. Leveling goes by fast so no need to rush it. Start with focusing on your personal story as this will slowly take you around the world while introducing you to the lore of the game. You can fill in your time in-between personal story quests by doing Heart Quests, finding the Points of Interest, and opening the Way Points located on your current map.

After completing your personal story, work on finishing world map completion and check out the Explorer Achievements found under the Hero panel. The Explorer Achievements will take you to some really cool, hidden places with fun challenges.

Some of those “Fun challenges” can be very hard if you aren’t good at split-second timed jumps (Troll’s Revenge for instance.) I’ve given up on it sadly.

if you plan to do the beer drinking minigame, be prepared for lots of disappointment. NPCs cheat, a LOT, and will often call out your bluffs almost instantly.
