I have a world completion toon (Ranger) that I hate the look/name (human female)—even with total makeover kit/name change contract, still cant stomach the idea of playing it for HOT—I would rather have a nice male Asura (like my Necro) for my druid. I enjoy PvE, but having to run thru all of Tyria again, doing HP/WP’s/Pets—with limited time “really grinds my gears.”

Just curious if others (with limited time due to work) have made the same class with a different race due to character model?

Yes! Luckily for me, however, I never let them get above level 30. I made close 6 of each class that I currently have at 80 as difference races/looks for a few levels, until I was absolutely 100% sure I loved them.

I deleted my level 80 sylvari Mesmer because I didn’t like it, and made a sylvari thief instead, and a charr Mesmer.

I’ve got three lvl 80 mesmers:

First was an asura mesmer on my alt account that started out as an experiment and ended up as my favourite character. Then I made a human mesmer on my main account because I loved the class, wanted it on my main account and chose human because that was the one race I didn’t have any character of. Finally I made another asura on my main account because I just don’t enjoy playing the human .

I have no intention of deleting the human, since she has full world exploration and personal and dungeon stories (as does the first asura, the 2nd is still on the way), and she’s still my primary dungeon and fractals character (the 2nd asura ended up more of a wvw character), but eventually my 2nd asura will be the one to take over dungeoning since I just enjoy that character so much more.

Recently I remade my ranger as a sylvari. My warrior as a norn. My engineer as an asura, and I’ll be making my necromancer a charr.

My ele and Mesmer will both stay human.

Yes, I deleted a level 80 warrior and a level 80 engi to change their race. It was a hard decision to make but fortunately I had not done much with either character besides level them so it was not a big loss.

I also use to play a norn guardian, however, I hated playing as a norn so I made a human guardian which quickly became my main. I decided to keep the norn guardian though since I almost had world map completion done on him as well 2 crafting professions maxed out. He now stands guard in LA as my pack mule and crafter :/

With 28 characters I have several classes of several races, I even have some classes more than once for some races. I have 2 level 80 rangers, a human and a Norn, 2 level 80 Guardians, (human and Norn again) a level 80 sylvari mesmer and a level 50+ charr mesmer, to name but a few. Normally I have a spare slot or two to try a new character in if I want a change rather than deleting them, but as I enjoy leveling starting a fresh doesn’t put me off, the nature of the game means that I’m not stuck following a limited number of quests to level by. If I really decide that I am not playing a character because i can’t stand its look it will go. The worst was back in vanilla WoW when I deleted a level 54 dwarf because I decided i really did not like their stance with a gun.

The main thing for me is having fun, if i don’t like the look of a toon, then it becomes not fun to play, time to hit the delete button, or just use it as a mule to hold all that account bound junk that builds up.

I’d like to remake my warrior into a charr but unfortunately I’ve had that warrior since the head start and I’d hate to lose those sweet birthday gifts . Really wish they’d make them account wide instead

I almost never delete an alt, though I did trash a level 3 female sylvari thief after using a makeover kit on her because she wasn’t clicking and I really didn’t want to level a second thief.

But I do make multiples of most professions (just one each of the Mediums, 2 to 4 each of Light/Heavy), always different races so far, to get a wider range of armor options. I try to do substantially different builds for each, and favor different weapons as best I can (all my mesmers have a GS, all my necros have a staff, I just don’t want to play them without those).

But no, I have not rolled a new race simply because I didn’t like the race I was using. I’ve done it to have more RP stories and more gameplay options.
