Hello all, simple question really, Iv already Googled this question and thus I am already aware of many methods out there. However many of these methods are a bit out dated.

So just would like some suggestions of the current most effective/profitable ways of trading skill points and karma for gold.

While the details ARE going to change, I think the consensus for SP 2 gold is promotion of materials in the Mystic Forge (a WIDE choice and what is “profitable” changes with the TP material markets).

There are 2 schools of thought on karma to gold:

1. Orrian Jewelry Boxes (never liked this one myself)
2. 4 karma armor items tossed in the forge for a salvageable / sellable item. The exact ones would depend on the best level items to salvage or sell and this is again dependent on current material markets.

About 1 month ago I used the “Cloth Crab Grabbin’ Gloves” method of karma to gold. I converted 980K karma into 80 gold. Yes this is tedious, but it still works. This was enough to get enough gems to buy another character slot. I’ve since worked up 125K karma and will be able to get the karma armor for that toon when it hits level 80. When is that 20% off sale on character slots!

Anet can easily plug that hole if they want. I’ve seen this suggestion posted dozens of time and have repeated it as many and have never been infracted here for posting it. I’m gonna take that as it NOT being an exploit.

the highest rates are also be the most time-intensive.
I just posted this on another thread (asking about karma):
legendaries give about 30-80s/1000 karma (but also require initial investment and other account-bound things)
Beaded weapons give about 20-45s/1000 karma (but require initial investment)
buy bloodtide linen armor, MF, salvage gives about 8s/1000 karma
lost orrian box gives about 3.5s/1000 karma

for SP, promoting kitten T2 refined basic materials is probably the best, though also the most time-consuming as it only uses 0.2 SP at a time. gives as much as 2-4g/SP.
crafting a legendary is probably next-most at 1-2g/SP
some mystic forge items give about 1g/SP
