Quick newbie question: Is crafting the only way to obtain Exotic gear? and how costy is it?

Trying to create a casual build for my Alt, so I don’t wanna be spending too much gold on that, just looking for the cheapest way to get the stats I need

You can get cele trinkets from various sources. For armor, you need to craft it. If you have the money, I would at least evaluate making ascended celestial gear, because both version use charged quartz crystals, which are timegated and a massive pain to come by. It may not be worth it at all to you, but consider it.

The other option is pick effectively random gear so it comes out balanced. Like soldiers coat, magi pants, assassin weapon, etc.

If you’re looking for cheap, I’d mix n match dungeon/karma armor to get the stats you want. If you’ve played much at all, that stuff is effectively free, and stuff like rabid is fine for open world and WvW, etc.

Cele was really cheap if you had bought some stacks of Quartz last year at the
Festival of 4 Winds event .. however if you need to buy quartz now its kitten
expensive.

So else if you don’t want to go full glass canon i always liked using knights or soldier
armor and berserker trinkets and weapons .. at least if you play a direct damage
character.

After checking a bit, turns out Marauder’s wasn’t so expensive. I decided to get for that
Crafted a full set with the costs of about 8~9g, and of I actually had most of it so I payed about 4g.
