Hi all,

I’m a new-ish (3 months) player, and I just wanted to ask if anyone knows of a good mat/item/place to farm. I know that there are a bunch of more efficient ways to make gold (fractals, DT, SW, WvW, etc), and I do those on a semi-regular basis, but I actually enjoy the occasional mindless farming loop. It can be nice to toss on some tunes, grab a beer, and just mine stuff or kill mobs without having to worry about a party, a timer, or keeping up with a zerg if I need to walk away for 10 minutes. I know it won’t be a good way to make any serious gold, but I’d at least like to make my mindless gaming a LITTLE useful. Thanks!

Karka shell farming maybe? In south sun cove, i’ve seen a couple more karka shell run posts these past days. Basically you just run around killing Karkas the shells are worth some good money.
You can also do mining runs where you just fly through zones mining/harvesting/gathering everything.

When I want to up my income I do SW events for the loot and crests. Then buy keys and follow a chest train for 3-4 runs. Gives you a decent amount of ectos and other mats. SW events, if they all succeed can give you around 20 ectos from salvages on their own and thats like 30 minutes playtime? :-)

Dungeons are a good place to go as well if you get a good group. Fractals can take forever sometimes and don’t give too much gold unfortunately :-( (love them anyway :-) )

Karka shells might be a good bet. That’s pretty much exactly what I was looking for: some mindless running around. Kill some mobs, farm some nodes, drink some beers. Thanks!

For harvesting i like Dredgehaunt Cliffs and Timberline Falls

harvest everything you see in Timberline Falls
harvest everything you see and do every event you come across anywhere in Orr.
do event chains and open bandit chests in Silverwastes.

I prefer orr the best, because after an hour or two of just chillin, killing zombies and hacking trees you should have a nice gathering of foxfire clusters (which sell for a nice amount, they add up) and heavy moldy bags, which give T5 and T6 mats. You aren’t required to zerg there to do events and there is no shortage of things to kill.

silverwastes is much more profitable, but it can feel much more like a grindy farm. Orr just still feels more organic and relaxed.
