Hello

Am farming to make the Bowyers quiver and have been trying to get Vicious Fangs to drop but am not having any luck.

I’ve tried at most of the suggested places in Frostgorge sound killing. the Arctodus, Ice Wurms, and Alpine Skelks. I probably killed for a good solid hour and did not get one drop..

Has there been a change where these drop at or something?

I dont have a clue, but they are rather cheap on black lions market and i got a few of them in the materials bank. so if you have trouble farming them, just farm the money to buy them on the bltc

Yeah but I need 250 of them lol, and I’m going on 2 hours without a drop, man you’d think I’d at least get one…

Arctodus doesn’t seem like a good target to farm for Fangs. They seem to drop mostly blood.

Wargs and Boars in Straits of Devastation might be better for Fangs.

I get them out of Moldy Bags sometimes. Maybe try farming Orr to see what you get? Or just farm Orr and CoF to get the gold to buy the fangs. In the 2 hours you were farming w/o a drop, you could have made quite a bit of gold doing something else.

Yeah I guess, its kind of a bummer though, was all excited to make this and start farming the mats but looks impossible to do that…Somebody must be farming them since theres a bunch on TP….

I did the same thing with corrupted lodestones. I was like, YES. I will go out there and I will get these myself! I farmed for about 5 hours total and got 1 single lodestone. It was quite a bummer. I feel your pain. I also have a friend going for exactly what you’re going for. He farmed polar bears to get some of his. I got one the other day from a skelk in Southsun. Might try there. I spent a half hour killing karka and skelks and left with 1 t6 blood and 1 fang. Good luck! Don’t get discouraged…you’ll get there some day.

Does magic find have much of an influence on these higher tier mats? I was using onomberry bars for a 30% boost…

I’m trying the Skelks in Southsun now and still nothing, did you have any magic find gear on?

Icebrood Wolves, Wargs and Boars are my go-to targets for Fangs. Wurms sometimes drop them too, but it’s a 50-50 chance between those or Venom Sacs.

Farm T5 and T6 mats, sell what you get thru the TP then use that money to buy the vicious fangs.

Well I did finally get a few to drop from the Wolves, but omg I’d be farming these for the next 10 years lol. I guess thats what I’ll do is just buy them off the TP….I didn’t want to have to do that….

I found it easier to farm items and such for gold and then to use that to buy the ingredients. It’s a lot quicker that way.

It’s too random. I did the same and nadda but a couple fangs. Seem slike the victim of the same crap Anet imposed on us. Nothing makes sense to me.

I get tons of these mostly farming Orr, I believe from bags. the other mats you get are worth plenty as well, and like stated before you could sell those to purchase the fangs.

When farming for mats, I find I have good days and bad days. When I was farming for Small Scales, my favourite spot was the southern arm of Isenfall Lake, hunting the Barracuda and Jellyfish (which for some weird reason also drop Scales) living there.

Sometimes I’d be lucky and get a Scale every 1 – 2 kills I’d make. Other days I’d make several sweeps through the place and only get 1 – 2 in total. I can only suggest that if you’re not having any luck that day, go do something else and try again tomorrow.

Thanks for the info but I gave up and just bought them off TP, it really seems they might have changed the drop rate on these things from talking to other people. Plus, I just don’t have the time and energy to farm these with this kind of drop rate…

Farming for items doesn’t work in GW2, plain and simple.

You would gain more fangs per hour by just farming gold and buying from the bots on BLTC.

Funny you should mention that, there were two bots farming the bears and skelks in frostgorge. And yes they were definately bots, would not answer me, and kept running the same pattern over and over. Yes its sad that farming doesn’t work, I did alot of it ff xiv, really enjoyed it…
