Fastest way to farm obsidian shards?
Farm karma by speed clearing fractals. Exchange karma for shards at one of the open temples in Orr.
Also you can get clovers by completing a certain pvp track, and said track can be completed faster with certain boosters.

Or farm karma in Edge of the Mists, if finding a party for fractals is not your thing.
In other words, you don’t farm obsidian shards. You farm karma, then buy the shards with said karma as explained above.
I’ve had good luck farming karma in EOTM. Karma booster consumables are also available through black lion chests, and some foods you can buy on the Trading post.
Honestly just do 100% world map completion (which you need anyway to get the Gift of Exploration) and you will get lots of karma just by doing the hearts and stuff. Once you’ve finished world map, you can start farming karma if you still need more.

I haven’t been there in awhile but read that experience was nerfed there, wasn’t karma to? About the only thing I’m sure of is that wxp is still gained there.
