I’ve got enough to craft nearly two ascended greatswords, except I don’t have the dragonite ingots.

This is really frustrating. I’m barely able to get on at times when I can get about 20 – 30 from a dragon or two before reset. This is proving to be more time consuming than it’s worth.

I can get the emperyal shards with ease. Everyone farms dungeons and at just about any time I’m on.

Not the same for meta events. They’re either not running when I get on or no one is around to help complete them. The ones I can stick around for are the ones that offer like 3 ore pieces…. lame…

You might want to guest to a server doing Orr temples. Yesterday on TC I got in on Dwayna and Lyssa openings when a guildie said they were happening, and she’s been doing a lot of them for the dragonite. That was around … 6 pm eastern? As I know better than to try to make BiS gear for myself, I’ve not been focusing on the task, so sorry I can’t give more details.

Dragonite is always a problem, but it also sounds like you aren’t in a populated server for pve. When you do your daily/log on, use gw2stuff.com (or the overlay) to see when metas will pop up. If you’re lucky, you can get a good chain of them, but only the orr temples and other high end metas give substantial dragonite (about 30), so it’s just a continuous grind from the day to day. You’ll get enough eventually

Play WVW and run around in zergs. Castles and Keeps tend to have them.

There really is no easy way to get Dragonite because Anet decided the only way to get it should be running around to stupid world events and akitteng while pewpewing world bosses. Just go to dragons.udba.org to see exactly which events are going on when. Flip servers till you find one that is on the last stage of a temple event. Melandru and Dwayna are pretty easy to track to the final event and will give you 30 Dragonite guaranteed per character you do it on.

Hopefully in the future Anet will give us a way to exchange Empyreal for Dragonite, or something along those lines.

Lol, I’ve thrown away more stacks of the stuff than I could count!

Anet clearly thought it would be amusing to drown WvW players in a vat of useless, account-bound T7 materials after we were always complaining about poor loot.
