Hie guise. My name’s Lau, and i’ve moved into this game with a few friends, around a week ago, we’ve been havin crapload of fun since then, after we left nother game we used to play.

We’ve leveled to 80, did some WvW, completed around 50% of the map and other stuff, but we’re sorta lost when it comes to gearing up.

I mean, we’ve gathered some gold, we’ve bought karma weaps, found out about the ascended jewelry (laurel ones, if im not wrong), but we’re kinda confused bout the armors. We’ve gotten some exotics, from TP, costed us around… 10 gold? around that I think, but yeh… I’m rolling an engi and i die really fast.. like REALLY fast, so i was wondering if there’s any better armor.

We dont mind farming nor pveing, even tho we’re a PvP based group, but still, we do enjoy to PvE here, prolly cos its sorta cool and challenging lol.

Any help would be appreciated ;-;

The metagame involves sacrificing all survivability in favor of damage, meaning ALMOST NOBODY builds to “not die”, most people build to do damage.

What does it mean? if you’re dying a lot, you need to learn to play, and that means using dodge more frequently, using damage negation skills and not just facetanking PvE mobs, but avoiding their damage altogether, while dishing out as much DPS as possible.

With that being said, you can gear up quite easily if you spend a few days simply doing edge of the mists or WvWvW, gather around 1700 badges of honor (not very hard) and head over to the armor masters in the WvW areas to buy a full set of any affix armor you want with exotic stats (second to best stats in the game right now)

And I am become kitten, the destroyer of kittens

I wouldn’t suggest going only damage.
Just because everybody else is doing it, doesn’t mean it’s the right way to do things.

If you wish to learn how gearing works, I recommend taking a look at this video and see how the entire system works in building your class and it will explain how to gear up.
