Fields of Ruin
HI! Well, you can do a couple of things. If you have friends who are higher levels, you can get them to help you. Your best bet would be to continue to explore and level until you are at the right level to get to the area. The Fields of Ruin are south of Ebonhawke.
Have fun!
What’s telling you to go there? I don’t remember anything in the personal story that takes you there for a while longer, and the only other thing that comes to mind is if the content guide is screwing up. I started to think it might have something to do with a trait, but then remembered you shouldn’t see those yet.
It is the story line that is sending me there but I will go to some other ares to level up first.
How in the world are you getting a personal story at all at level 19? The personal stories are at level 10 for the first set and level 20 for the second set. You shouldn’t be able to see it at all, much less be sent to a map so high above your level. What is the name of the personal story that’s sending you there?
I suspect what’s happening is it’s not the personal story but the pointer for “appropriate level maps”. Sometimes it will point to any nearby map and tell you that adventures lie in that direction, even though that map is not level appropriate.
ANet may give it to you.

Just following the story line and it sends me to areas I can not survive.
Back to LOTRO I think.

You’re not following the storyline at level 19. The particular story line that takes you into Fields of Ruin unlocks at level 40 starting with Setting the Stage and progressing through the joining the Vigil Story line.
As Just A Flesh Wound pointed out it’s possibly the content pointer that’s gone a bit squiffy. Simply go back to Divinity’s Reach exit south and then exit Queensdale through one of the southern exits into Kessex Hills. This will be a level appropriate map and where you level 20 story quests continue (assuming you are human).

Human yes and by fluke I ended up in Kessex Hills.
What exactly is telling you to go to Fields of Ruin? If it’s Personal Story it should have a level attached to it. You shouldn’t be getting Personal Story quests that far beyond your level.
If it’s not a Personal Story quest, or for some odd reason you’re getting a PS quest that far beyond your level go do something else until you’ve leveled up to match the quest.
It’s not the end of the world.
Exactly WHO is telling a LVL 19 to go to Fields of Ruin (note that Ebonhawke is IN the SW corner of the Fields of Ruin zone)?
Did you possibly run Story Missions with another (higher level) player? I can only think some sort of glitch has happened to make your PS mission marker show up WAY ahead of your actual PS missions…./shrug.

Why, he could just done the last Lv20 mission, followed by the first Lv30 one. Totally possible to do the 20er with a Lv19 char.

No, it’s not. Personal story chapters unlock every 10 levels. You get the first one at level 10. You don’t unlock the second one until level 20.
Go exploring and level up completing maps until you can do te story. You also will complete maps for world completion that way.
Yeah, finish the Queensdale area, then go thru the portal in Divinity to Lion’s Arch. You will find portals there to each racial city. Explore all the cities (or as much as you desire) for XP, then do their starting areas. After that you should have skill, levels, gear, etc to move on to more challenging things.
And just because you hit level 20 does not mean you have to do the next chapter of your story right then, it can wait until whenever you desire.
You can also explore crafting. Exploring all the starting areas and harvesting as you go will help you accumulate materials, rather than having to buy it.

Explain how it’s totally possible (other than doing it with another player that’s +20) as I think you are totally mistaken.
Have you leveled a character since NPE release?
In any event, the only PS mission that takes you to Ebonhawke (that I’m aware of) is the LVL 40 Vigil mission.

I believe it’s the content pointer going wonky, as I had it tell my ele to go there when he was far too low level. Since I knew better, I just ignored it.
At least Ebonhawke itself can mostly be wandered in safely enough, so it’s not instant death to hop through from DR. Unlike the time when I was leveling my first guardian, one of my first 5 alts, and I went unsuspecting through an LA portal into the icy area of Gendarren and was one-shot by ice elementals as soon as I loaded in
I’m sure that it’s the content pointer that OP is talking about, not personal story (which is impossible for a level 19 as the second section doesn’t even unlock until level 20). When I was running my level 2 on a new account through Lions Arch, it was directing me to each map as I got near the portal: Gendarren fields, Lornar’s Pass and Bloodtide Coast. If OP was in Divinities Reach and near the portal to Fields of Ruin, it could easily be directing him to go there.
ANet may give it to you.

That old portal into Gandaran likely caused more than a few deaths as I’m not sure it was possible to use it and not aggro those Elementals…..

I may have to check on one of mine if it actually points to that portal. Still, the content pointer, short of a glitch with the story, was the only thing I could think of.
Yes sorry my personal story has ended when I fought the minister. After that there was nothing to do and the pointer was saying go to Fields of Ruin.
Just levelling in other areas now so all good.
I remember a video from when the content pointer first came out. The maker of the video had a low level Charr and he pretended not to know about where the high level maps were and that the pointer was inaccurate. He followed the pointer as it led him to higher and higher level maps (with running commentary: “oh, it’s telling me to go here. Well it must be right so I’ll go to this map now”) until his low level char was directed to go to Frostgorge Sound. He ran in there and was immediately killed by an irate mob who didn’t appreciate a low level on its territory.

Whew. Just be careful about following the pointer through portals in the future. It tends not to use discretion with regard to what level of content it’s steering you towards apparently.
I think there is a story mission that tells you to go to that region. The story instance starts actually near the gate in Divinity’s Reach. Entering the real Fields of Ruins map is not needed.

Yeah, but that’s a story step that starts around level 50.
