Fire that cannot be removed
Perhaps this helps
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Burning
I assume you were talking about the warrior trait “Signet of Stamina”, not sure why it would not remove burning.
“Whose Charr is this?”- “Ted’s.”
“Who’s Ted?”- “Ted’s dead, baby. Ted’s dead.”
What exactly is causing the fire? I know in AC dungeon there is the fire trap like things on the walls that will rapidly drop you without a chance of surviving unless you are extremely lucky to only get singed vs full on in it’s path when hit by it. With that thing your only way to avoid it is to not be in it’s path when it goes off.
I’m pretty sure he isn’t talking about burning and that it is a special boss or environmental condition. I remember getting something like this when I was helping someone in a story instance fighting the dragon, and I had a special condition symbol and a dot that killed me repeatedly, and would apply again even after rez. I eventually figured out it was because I was trying to go under the dragon and it ended when I stopped.
The halloween event also had something similar with a part of the back piece quests where you would get a special condition burning if you didn’t put out the flames with the water. So, I’m pretty sure it is one of these types that he’s running into.
Ive gotten this burning occasionally from ordinary fights also, and yes, im a warrior, lvl 49 atm. it definately does not get removed with any trait that removes or cures conditions, I just don’t understand. I will just be fighting away, doing whatever, and then some mob puts this fire on me, and then no matter what I do, it will kill me, there has never been an exception to this, it’s happened dozens of times. I’m clueless
Where are you fighting? That way we can narrow down which mob is doing this to you.
Mhh, I honestly never looked into that, usually if I’m low on health and still burning I just heal up once and I’m good. Perhaps a bug or misleading tooltip, will try to test that tonight.
“Whose Charr is this?”- “Ted’s.”
“Who’s Ted?”- “Ted’s dead, baby. Ted’s dead.”
No there is a “fire” effect different from “burning” conditions. If I remember correctly it has square icon like daze, passive signets or other special effects.
It don’t count as condition so all abilities that remove/change conditions don’t work.
It’s mostly caused by environment or totems etc.

are you perhaps standing in a fire or fire related aoe abilities?
I have been looking for that, and any other clues as to what happens, it happened several times during gameplay tonight. I ended the night dying to it trying a skill point challenge. I saw the fire effect on me, fired off 3 cure condition abilities, all to no avail.
Probably the most interesting part is that with the exception of Mapokl nobody else seems to know what I’m talking about LOL.
I really wish there was a way (perhaps there is?) to get more info out of the combat window, it doesnt seem to show “you’ve been afflicted with X”… “you have been hit with a bazillion points of fire damage from X”… I have looked but don’t see detailed info?
I will keep looking, thnx for the help guys
If you hover over the debuff, it should show which enemy is causing it? I know it does it for buffs.
Well, went back out and got a screenshot of it happening with the combat window open. The mob had just died and that effect was on me, 1 second after the screenshot I died to it. Also the combat window right after I died doesn’t show me any message relating to what killed me.

Huh. Could you hover over the little red icon right to the right of your HP sphere? It’s between your HP and your signet. I feel like that may be the source? I just would like to know the name. Seems odd.

/edit: Ok, i’ll write a little more: In your screenshot it is clear to read that you used “Throw Rock” and “Hammer Toss”, which are the warriors downed skills #1 and #2. I suspect you pressed 3 (Vengeance, click on the link above), rallied stood up, killed the raptor and died because you haven’t traited for “Sweet Revenge”.

the instant that screenshot went off I was dead, had no time to get a mouseover tooltip on that icon, I had just logged in, left camp and attacked that bird, whack dead to fire. I went back and tried again and got the screenshot you see there. happened 2 of 2 times. I’ll keep going back and see if I can get a tooltip on it. but tomorrow tired now, thnx for the help guys!
oh btw, there is never a “rally” option, when this kills ya, its return to waypoint always.
This is most definitely vengeance as posted by lavra. You aren’t traited for Sweet Revenge so you don’t rally after Vengeance. You’re using your 3 downed skill and dying 15 seconds later.
Yeah that’s vengence. If you don’t believe you’re hitting down 3, take off your armor, find something to beat the crap out of you, when you’re downed check to see if it’s set to auto-attack. If you at any time accidentally CTRL-clicked the skill, whenever you’re downed and it comes off of its initial cooldown, it will auto-cast, and basically give you 15 seconds until you’re respawning at a waypoint.
If you’re downed and skill 3 has arrows around it, then this is what’s doing it to you.
finally the light bulb goes off, I had no idea!!! I’m sure I never looked very closely at the tooltips on those downed abilities /bonk myself. Thanks so much guys for taking the time to help me with this. Knowing how easy this will be to avoid makes me happy! I had sort of noticed that when downed hitting 3 would bring you right up… and then right back down apparently Today I will be out taking a much closer look at those tooltips!
Thanks all!
Btw this is my first time playing guild wars, my mmo path has been EQ > WOW > LOTRO > AOC > WarHammer > PerfectWorld > Rift > GW2. So I’m still wrapping my head around the “no roles” situation, also combat avoidance is a big one, I’m still struggling with when to dodge and still working to figure out what to look for.
Tayanitas – 51 warrior – Anvil Rock
So now that you figured this out your next goal should be to not get downed by a single vulture raptor.
