My dad was supposed to put in our new video card today but he came late from work, my mom is going to take the computer to a store near her work tommorow. I know I may sound spoiled but honestly i’m not,if anything I’m the opposite(my dad is a taxi driver and my mom works at a bakery,we’re lower middle class)
Im gonna play a Charr Thief mainly because that’s what my roleplay character basically was in Runescape lol. I’m gonna start playing in 5 days maybe since I’m gonna be at my cousins for the rest of the week. I’ve played the game at my friends house mad times(last time was friday) and just saying, the game is far from dead.
So what should be the first thing I do after I’m done that starting kitten.

Familiarize with the system/controls? Test which wep combination suits your play style. Then either play a few levels story or jump to WvWvW and get owned for now =P.

Honestly it starts a bit slow but once you get the hang of it, you can decide for yourself whats it about.

Oh, and if you do play before Jan 3, you should use the asura gate to teleport to Lions Arch and play the Wintersday dungeons/events. (If you want easy gold you can sell the 250 glue/stuffing you get from them on the trade post for about 80 copper each. This should net you a good start). Enjoy

Some of the things I wish I had figured out earlier:

Make sure to get gathering tools.
Make sure to eat food for +exp.

After that you get the skills you want, then gear, then traits.

It depends are you a pvp or pve player? Do you like to solo or group? Do you want to play causally or are you going to spend many hours per day on this game?

The game world is an eyegasm.

Never waste your karma while leveling and vendor everything that drops…. most important don’t spend gold on stupid kitten you don’t need like dyes off the trading post or waypoints when you can run.

Learning how to play, much less your favorite way to play, is not a quick discovery. At least, not for everyone. The game will feel very different for your character every ten levels or so, and what seems awesome at one part may not feel as awesome in five levels. Don’t let this get you down. But don’t corner yourself into playing a class/zone/quest/weaponset you don’t enjoy, either. It often helps to take a break and try something new when you hit a bump: go pvp, make a new character, or explore a new zone.
