Hi peoples of the GW2 corner of the interwebs.

In fairly new to the game but not to MMO’s, and i was looking for some advice. I want to go Melee in this game as i always play a ranged DPS, buty so far i cant seem to find a class that i like playing as a melee, so i was wandering if you guys and gals had any advice for a first time melee. I will hopefully be playing with my brother who is playing a Norn ranger, so something that would compliment him would work as well.

Absolutely everything is melee. You could equip a sword/x on ranger and be a very effective melee with your brother.
Everything also has a different feel when in melee,
The white bread melee of warrior is just what every game has in a hit things till they fall down feel. Guardian is similar to warrior with a few more F keys to increase group damage and reduce incoming damage.

Since you mentioned not being able to find a class you like playing as melee it would be most helpful if you shared which classes and weapon setups you have tried, and what you didn’t like about them. That would be a lot more helpful than trying to run down all of the melee options.

Greatswords on the Warrior and Guardian are a lot of fun. Going with axes on the Warrior and eviscerating all the things is a ton of fun as well.

Pro Tip: When you start playing melee with your ranger playing brother teach him not to spam Longbow 4 or you will be chasing everything across the map to kill it:/ lol
