Hi,

Does it give 6K Karma, or 600 Karma? I could have sworn it was 600 when I clicked it last night, but the wiki says 6K. Am I mis-remembering, or is the wiki wrong?

if you got it from the daily, it was a drop of liquid karma, for 600 karma, if you got it from the daily activity chest, it’s the same

if you got it from completing monthlies or reaching a 500 AP tally, it’s a Jug of liquid karma, which gives 6000

Ahh, yes, I was confused about Flask, Jug, Drop whatever.

I was talking about from the daily. I had a look at the wiki again, and it’s Drop of Liquid Karma. When did that change from 6K to 600? That’s a massive nerf.

And yeah, the Monthly gives 6k.

What’s the accepted best way to accumulate Karma these days? Run events? The Daily used to be a great source of Karma when I played before.

BTW: Any article explaining the Karma nerf, and why they did it etc.?

I think it was on September 13, 2013. I don’t recall seeing any posts saying why but it appears to be tied in with the introduction of Essences of Luck and with Ascended crafting.

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Game_updates/2013-09-03

*Drips of Liquid Karma from champion loot bags have been replaced with Piles of Bloodstone Dust.
*Open world bosses, temple bosses, WvW keeps, and castles now drop Dragonite Ore in addition to their regular loot, which can only be earned once per day per location.
*Dungeons, minidungeons, jumping puzzles, WvW camps, and towers now drop Empyreal Fragments in addition to their regular loot, which can only be earned once per day per location.
*Daily and monthly achievement rewards now include Essence of Luck. To offset this, the amount of karma earned from daily and monthly achievements has been reduced.
*Event failure no longer rewards karma in order to encourage players to succeed at events.
*Liquid Karma dropped from dungeon end chests have been replaced with Empyreal Fragments.
*Ascended weapons can now drop anywhere ascended materials or other ascended items can be found.
*Loot dropped by the Karka Queen has been improved; she also has a chance to drop Settler’s inscriptions.
*Sentinel’s inscriptions can now be purchased from the guild vendor.
*Salvaging exotic items now produces Globs of Dark Matter.
*Salvaging fine and masterwork items now produces Essence of Luck.
*Salvaging Globs of Ectoplasm now produces Essence of Luck.

it was nerfed by a 90% (dailies only give a flask, monthlies only give 1 jug instead of 10), also the flasks, jugs, kegs, etc… cannot be boosted with karma gain boosters.

It was done to conserve the value of karma ingame, a lot of people complained they had millions upon millions of karma with nothing worthy to spend them on. I personally think that having 1000 or having 1,000,000 karma is the same, if you don’t need it it makes no difference, because there is no “karma economy” (and besides, why not blow them in obsidian shards? maybe one day you fancy crafting a legendary)

if you need karma, currently the best and most efficient way is to trade objectives on the edge of the mists, I can make 10,000 karma an hour if I’m lucky without any boosts other than the 1% karma gain account wide and the 5% from ice cream food (you can buy them cheap on the TP)

Then if you have 30 laurels laying around, go to the WvW areas and buy down an ascended amulet, then buy a karmic infusion for 10 more laurels to get a permanent +15% karma gain. You can also boost your karma gain by an additional 15% from your guild upgrades (you can activate it for some influence for 24h), lastly, some commanders like to do karma trains and they drop communal boost bonfires which give a 1 hour +50% karma gain, although it costs gems and you must be lucky to get the commander that drops one (they usually wait until a lot of ppl are on)

Thanks so much guys. It all makes sense now, and thanks for the tips on best ways to make Karma.

I had 250K, but bought a rare weapon, and last night we did a temple run and I bought 4 exotic pieces so I’m down to about 7K
