Greetings.

I’m having serious difficulties with the Forum Search function. It seems to wanna do a search while I try to type in a word, which doesn’t help me one bit since it’s really quick to do so.
I get 2-3 letters in before it has done some sort of quick search based on my input. It always fails me. Example:

I want to search for “Guardian”, type “gu” and before I even have added the “a” its found some wildy related post about dungeon groups that has the letters “gu” in it somewhere. All of this in the duration of 1 seconds.

I can’t formulate a search string in the search field without it instantly finding some thread about whatever, containing a letter I entered in the search field.

I just tried starting to type in “Laurel”, tried to be quick, had time to add “la” and within a split second it had found and displayed a completely random thread where the headline started with the letter “L”!

How the heck do I turn this function off? It’s seriously broken and annoying and it will not let me search for anything!

Don’t think you can disable that.. Just type your search query in a notepad and copy-paste it in the Search box?

It’s broken and has been broken. Currently for me it only finds words from today (which is better than it usually works. Normally it finds nothing. Even is it’s on the page you are searching from).

You’re better off using google.

Yep don’t even try to use the search function here—-been broken for a long time and it has been acknowledged by Anet that it is broken and they are unable to fix it in house. It seems they are unwilling to change to current, fully functioning forum osftware(don’t want to use their $$$$?).

I don’t think it’s a matter of being unwilling to switch. Gaile has stated that they have been looking at different software for quite some time. My guess it that it has much to do with compatibility. Will they be able to transfer all the accounts, all the threads, and everything into a new set of software? Being proprietary software, they can’t just copy and paste everything into a new program. And thats why such a switch hasn’t happened yet.

That is possible, but in my mind unlikely. It doesn’t make sense, business or otherwise. However both options are speculation anyway, with really no facts to back them up :P

I normally just use google and type in “GW2” followed by what i search for.

True, but eitherway, Anet has known about the flaw (and others like the ‘subscribe’ option) for quite some time and have done NOTHING about it. That is what makes no business sense or any other sense for that matter. Bottom line is money.
