Guild Wars 2

Hey, my friend actually introduced me to Guild Wars 2, but hasn’t played in a long time. After seeing my various screenshots and bragging about my thief, he’s decided that after we have our final exams, he’ll download the game again and play with me.

Now the problem: He is located on the Sea of Sorrows server, and I’m on Ehmry Bay. He said that when he still played, there were free monthly server transfers, but I believe there aren’t any and you need to pay. Which is it?

Its free to guest to a different server, but the free permanent transfers ended a year ago. The only way to get a free transfer now is to delete all your characters and then you can freely pick a new server.

No, you have to pay now. It costs 1800 gems to transfer. The other way is to delete his character(s) and then re-select his server.

The above posts are correct however it doesn’t necessarily cost 1800 gems. It will cost that amount if it is a highly populated server. Less populated servers will cost slightly less. I believe the next cheapest is 1200 gems and the cheapest is 800 for a low populated server.

JollyDoctor you have three ways to play on the same server.

The first is guesting. That is free and you can guest on any server in your region (US or EU). The only limitation with guesting is you cannot go into the WvW zones while guesting. But all the open world and dungeons are available. You can even be in the same guild cross servers. The only issue with that is the guild banks are server specific.

The second is the paid transfers. Those are pretty self explanatory.

The third is a free account transfer. To do that you just need to delete all characters on the account. You can then transfer your account to any server that is not Full including to the other region. The items in your account bank and wallet all transfer with you. You just cannot have any characters on the account. Personal guild banks do not transfer.
